the go 710 has a reset under the mount (see picture below) charge it up for a few hours, then get yourself a small paperclip and depress the rest for 15- 20 seconds.if it doesnt power up, press and hold the power button for up to 10 seconds.
if it does not proceed when the icon is selected, presume data corruption or in fact no data. TomTom is renouned for this type of problem. try rteinstalling the map data from the source.
try a reset first ( small pinhole on rear) put open paperclip end in and gently push the button inside) if this still fails then data installation is the go
turn device over and look for tiny reset button near to power connect strip. then use a blunt safety pin to reset, this should allow you to then turn it on,this works on 500 ,700 ,900 , 510 , 710 , 910 , hope this helps .
To reset your TomTomGo710 device, do the following:
Check that the battery is charged properly.
Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on.
Remove the SD card
If your device uses an SD card, remove it.
Reset your device.
Use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset
button for 15 seconds. See the pictures below for where to find the
reset button.
Turn your device on.
Press the On/off button for at least 5 seconds.
Insert the SD card
If your device uses an SD card, insert the SD card.
tomtom go710 map data is on SD card without it, it will not work.
I had the same problem with the go 920, I thought it was broken,
Solution was to insert pin into reset hole for 15 Sec, after which hold the power on button for at least 5 Secs
Have you tried the reset hole? make sure there is nothing stuck in there that could be pressing on the button. When you press and hold the reset button the screen stays blank.
If you press the reset button does the unit turn on? Mine turns on when I press the reset button even after I turn the battery off then back on.
Hope this suggestion might help you restore functionality.
leave on charge for two hours, then with the SD card out hold down the
reset button at the back of unit for ten seconds and then the 'on'
switch for ten seconds.
