We have several Symbol PDT 3100's with our old computer companies software downloaded on them. How do we delete these programs and set up the PDTs to be able to read and download as "text" files which we can then import into our new computer system? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry I could not login to Fixya yesterday,otherwise you should have received the reply mail early, but I just got busy due to some family problems.
Anyways, the product you have mentioned is PDT 3100 and you got to understand a few technical things which I would like to share with you now. First of all the PDT 3100 is 10 years old which is pretty older than the Operating System you are using which is windows 7 which is only 3 years old in market.What I am trying to say is any hardware device needs a driver software to run in a PC but the driver software which your device has was Last modified in 2004 so it is obvious it does not support windows 7.

Please read the instructions carefully and download the software and install it.Don't get disheartened, install the software and see what you get, but I feel technically it should not work. but it will work on any Windows XP PC.so, if you have another PC with windows Xp your device will work.

The terminals use DR Dos as operative system. Anything you want to download to them normally has to be built into a hex file and you will need a cradle, a null modem cable and winhex or the old dos command called sendhex.exe.

Is it a pdt 3100, 3140 or 3146?

I can send you the operative system files if the terminal is a 3140 or 3146 or you can do a search on the web for LWP and UPD.

You need a cradle, a null modem cable, a pc running dos and the command rcvhex.exe which you can download from the net.

If you can get all this together, get back to me and I will give you full instructions on the process.

Since you can't do anything with it now, it wo'n't get worse anyway.

You would be surpised how many problems can be solved by logical thinking and acting without fear for failure.

We hava a Symbol PDT 3100 barr reader. It worls properly picking up bar codes fron our inventoy, however we don´t know hoy to dowload them to a PC. ¿Is there a software or configuration to download the data to a PC? Thanks for your help Jos? jalal

If memory serves me correctly it means you've run out of space on the Edrive (the part for data storage).

Try downloading a smaller file ...perhaps an old one you've backed up. it is possible memory is still available for them ..

Let me know what happens when you try the smaller file ... I'll look up the error if that doesn't solve the problem. I would look it up now ...but I'm at home.
