These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. What does it do if you unhook the flat cables going from the tcon to the panel, does the blinking go away and do you have sound then?

A 4 flash shutdown indicates a backlight problem. It can be acused by a bad backlight inverter board (the backlight power supply) or by a defective backlight in the panel. There are fuses on the backlight inverter board called "picofuses" which will need to be checked in order to isolate the problem to the board or the panel. If the fuses are good, you have to replace the panel (very expensive!). If the fuses are opne, most likely the back light inverter board has failed.

you can have the inverter board replaced...instead of the entire panel.
