52 inch RCA - green light turns on & off, BUT no picture

The best assumption, at this point, is that the power supply board has died. You can buy a replacement unit from the link below and have it professionally installed.

Power Supply

Unplug High voltage lead from HV splitter. This is a red wire going from HV transformer to similar (white plastic) device located up front, between picture tubes. Disconnect the one which is coming in, by strong energetic pull down with pliers. Leave those which go to picture tubs in. Make sure that disconnected wire is far from other components or metal parts (high voltage - SEVERAL INCHES SPARK CAN OCCUR) Turn the unit on - if different than 3 blinks - the splitter is your problem.

You should check out the post on this subject, called green blinking light of death. It's not dead, it's easily fixable with a soldering tool. There's a post on this subject by Chris and Nat (solution #9 in a long line of not so useful solutions). We have an '03 that has a bit of a different layout than what they posted, but the principle was the same. Replace the capacitors and you are good to go! It took us less than $15 and less than two hours of not-so-intense work to get it going.

Please post the model number of your RCA as usually its a bad flyback and start up capacitor when you get a 3 blink error code . But I can help you better if I have the model number of your set.

check for vented caps or shorted flyback or tripler.

If you are saying the picture comes on red and then the tv turns off?
I would suspect the video ic on the red picture tube pc board has shorted out.
This is a pretty common problem

Have a problem with Zenith 37 HDTV. Medel number: Z37LZ5D As wathcing TV, along with 'pop' sound, TV went dead. LG service center gave an advice to unplug the power cord and press ON/OFF power switch about 1 min. Then plug power back and turn on the TV. Well, the green light blink for a while and solid green, but still no screen, no audio. Search the Web and someone suggested to replace Power Supply Board which will fix the problem. Again, search the Web and came out with Power Supply Board. LG Electronics/Zenith 'Power Supply Assembl' with $124.95 from PartStore.com. Is it the right solution? Do I have to replace entire Assembly Board? not just replacing some fuse? Any cheaper way to do? If I have to replce PSA board, any suggestion to how? Actually, the TV belongs to my father and the problem that I stated was based on what he told me.
So the question is based on the symptom that I posted, how sure are you that the problem is the Power Supply Board?

This is LCD TV.
There is no problem with the wall socket nor current.
I put other appliances on same wall socket and worked.
It has to be internal problem.
As I mentioned on the main post, there was a 'pop' sound while watching and TV went dead.
Turn on remote control, there is blink green light and then green stays on, but no sound, no screen.
Turn off remote control, light turns red. Comment posted on May 14, 2009 I fixed the TV.
Orderd power supply board which cost me $136.51 total.
Replacing was simple.
Just removed the rear panel cover then electronic board housing cover.
Took power supply board with all the connector cables and replaced with new one.
Problem was a transformer connector which got burned and blow up the plastic cover.
But no problem with fuse and capacitors.

blinking light indcate a processor shutdown.. the processor has detected a problem in safety circuits and shut down the set. common problem are flyback and horizotal ouptut transistor. the processor has a error log file. technicians can plug a specail computer and read those to determine problem
