Does anyone know how to get canon mf toolbox (model mf3240)to work with windows 7 professional 64bit? The error I get is "A supported scanner is not installed." The drivers are current and the scanner works with everything else. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers, among other things. It works great on my netbook running win7 32bit.
I got mine to work. Just set the compatibility mode for the .exe file to Windows XP (Service Pack 2).
How do you set the compatibility mode to Windows XP?
not working for me even I set it to compatibility mode. :-(
Not working for me even I set it as compatiblity mode.
just create another user it will work.

Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1 has a program already built in that will work. It's called Windows Fax and Scan. I just tried it and it worked on my 64-bit system and automatically recognized my printer, Other versions of Windows might have it as well. You don't need all the third-party applications.
Re: System hangs when using Toolbox to scan mf4350d: Windows 8.1
PLEASE TRY THIS.
Start> in the run box type. Services.msc
Scroll down to Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
Right click, select Properties
Check that Startup type is set to Automatic
Click Log On Tab
Check that Local System account , and Allow service to interact with desktop is checked. Hit apply.
Click Recovery...Click on window next to First Failure, Scroll to Restart the Service. Hit apply.
I wasted almost 6 hours trying to install the MF5750 drivers and Multifunction Toolbox (which has excellent scanning capabilities). My 32 bit machine crashed and I went out and bought a new PC that is equipped with Windows 7 and has a 64 bit processor. Now my toolbox function will not work. Spent wasteless number of hours trying to make it work. Called Cannon Tech Support and was told that the MF Toolbox does not work with 64 bit machines. I am very disappointed and hope that Canon would make an effort to get this feature out there for downloading. My business depends on this scan feature.

Microsoft offers free Windows XP virtual machine for Windows 7 (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx). Install it and install printer drivers and MF Toolbox on this virtual XP. You can use installed software from Windows 7 (it will appear in start menu).
It appears you can only downlowd windows xp mode with virtual pc only if you have windows 7 ultimate or professional.
This option does work. I have Windows 7 Ultimate and followed the instructions on the above page. I was able to get the Windows XP virtual machine to run and scan through the Canon toolbox. I needed to install both the canon printer driver for my MF8180c and the Toolbox. Be sure to "Attach" your printer via the menu in XP virtual machine. Works great. You can even scan to your current windows 7 my docs folder. Excellent tip!

You can still use WIA to san and import the pictures. It works for me...
SOURCE: Canon Pixma MX700 Scanner Problem
I was having the same problem, and thanks to the person who posted solution number two which simply highlighted the fact that the apparently software that came with the Canon Pixma MX700 unit is not compatible with Window Vista.
The reason I was confused is because the printer was working perfectly fine across the network, but when I went to scan my computer would tell me that it can't communicate with the scanner. I'm thinking ... "well since you can communicate with the printer, you should be able to communicate with the scanner, after all, they're the same device!"
As a workaround, I used a third party program to do the scan (in this case, Photoshop) and everything worked fine. If you have Photoshop, just go to file > import to start the scan. If you don't have Photoshop, I would think whatever program you are using for image editing may have the same functionality.
Hope that helps,
Brian
SOURCE: canon mf 6550 copy no print out its came out empty page
We had the same problem with our mf6550 printing blank pages after we changed the toner cartridge. I called the support desk today and they said it is the shutter. They told me to remove the toner cartridge and then (without a cartridge in) close the door briskly. Then open the door, install the cartridge and again close the door briskly. It worked! He said it may be a permanent fix or it may act up again. He also said I could take it to a service center to have it fixed permanently. The service desk # is 1-800-828-4040. They can tell you where the nearest service center is. Good luck.
