Taking the washer apart for repair. I have a different type of control panel than is described in the help videos

First, you need to remove the control panel from the washer. To do this, you have to use a putty knife to release the clips that hold the panel in place. You can watch a video tutorial on how to do this here. Kenmore Elite Washer Front Load Control Panel Removal Replacement - YouTube
Next, you need to disconnect the lid switch connector plug from the top of the washer. This is a safety measure to prevent the washer from operating while the lid is open.

After that, you need to remove the agitator from the washer. To do this, you have to pull it up firmly or use a rope to lift it out. The video above will also help with this step.

The thermistor will be located on the heating element. Remove the back panel on the machine to see if the element is not located there first.
To strip down the front of the machine there is a video on youtube which may help, it may be a diiferent machine to yours but should'nt be that much different in the strip down. If you go on youtube and type in LG WASHER DISASSEMBLY you should find one on there by Repair Clinic, this should help you. It does'nt show the thermistor on this video but other videos about a washing machine thermistor will. Only a small bullet type fitted in to the heater element.
