Based on what you're saying it can only be a few things.
Trying putting the HDMI cable into a different port on the tv and change input.
Try changing the HDMI cable.
If that doesn't work, change over to component cables, change TV input again and see if that works.

have you looked to see if this set functions via the audio/video jacks on the rear? Set might have a tuner problem which could be bypassed by routing signal into audio/video jacks set should have.

With the onset of more and more TVs being hooked up to cable, TV manufacturers didn't need to make the tuners as sensitive because the signal from the Cable Co. was much stronger than the over the air signal. If the other TVs are older they may be just sensitive enough to lock onto the channel signals. You could ask your cable provider to check your available signal in the house to see if there is the proper amount of signal. Some channels can inherently be stronger and when "block converted" (put where the cable company wants the channels) all come thru but some are a bit clearer.

I expect there is a tv aerial signal problem as depending on your area, bbc and itv use different frequencies and signal loss could be the problem.

I assume you are not trying to steal service, that you just want to use your cable signal on a TV without using a cable box. The NTSC (analog) and clear QAM (digital) signals will work on many recent TVs. Encrypted signal require a box from your cable company. BTW, the cable company are not allowed to encrypt local channels but will certainly do it for all premium channels and may do it for all digital channels except the locals. This assumes you bought a TV with QAM.
