It has a short. Mine did the same. If under 3 years old cuisinart will replace for $10 shipping charge. If out of warranty, cheaper to buy a new one, than have that one fixed. Call 1-800-726-0190

There is an "Auto Off" programing capability with this machine that may be the culprit if everything else is working fine. Check the user manual to reset it or disable the feature if it presents a problem.

UNPLUG
DISASSEMBLE:
(2 screws in top under caps, lift whole top off, 4 small screws, slice through caulk bead with exacto knife, pull front control panel horizontally straight out),
CLEAN:
carefully clean contacts if switch is bad, unplug/replug wire harness connector several times to clean contacts, scrape through conformal coating and corrosion gently from circuit board between adjacent pins but don't scrape through the green PCB solder mask and if desired re coat with silicone caulk
REASSEMBLE
CHECK WATER FILTER, REPLACE CARTRIDGE

SOURCE: cuisinart coffee maker won't brew

Here is the basic troubleshooting for the Cuisinart coffee makers:
Make sure all baskets are in proper place – especially if unit is beeping.
Do not use a paper and a gold-tone or other permanent filter at the same time.
Unplug for LONGER THAN 15 full minutes to reset.
Clean by brewing 2 oz of distilled white vinegar/2 oz water.
If these methods fail, the unit probably requires replacement – call Cuisinart as they have a longer-than-standard warranty.

SOURCE: Cuisinart coffee maker turns on but will not brew.

Well, you could try unplugging for an hour. Sometimes that helps, but these have been having a lot of problems (but don't ask their customer service that, they can't admit it but I'm pretty sure they all know it!). I would say call customer service anyway if it's under 3 years old (800-726-0190) after you've unplugged it and let them know what's going on (model and serial # are both located on the bottom of the unit, stamped in the black part). If it's under warranty they can offer you a replacement and from what I hear Cuisinart has been getting in new coffee on demand units (like the one you have) that have fixed the problems. They're on back order right now though, so there will be a wait. Other than that, I would say you don't have many options, unless the store is willing to take it back, because this one is pretty much a goner. Not the first time I've seen it. :(

Cuisinart troubleshooting

My Cuisinart 12 cup thermal coffee maker does everything but make coffee. I put water in the back and it just stays there. I turned it on pushed on start, clock works, and probably 2 minutes later the red light comes on and says it's done. But water is still in the reservoir. Could the hose be affected? or is there a pump? Would like to know as the coffeemaker was expensive. Now about 4 yrs old.

This coffee maker (10 c maker with grinder) beeps it's done every few minutes with water left. we have to brew about 5 times for a full pot, what gives?

Presume this is the Grind & Brew Thermal™ 10-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Model # DGB-600BCC

An instruction booklet is available here: http://www.cuisinart.ca/pdf/ibs/en/DGB-600BCC_en.pdf

Review the sections beginning on page 11 of the pdf on Turning Off the Grind Function (if not using the grind feature) and Making Coffee.

Make sure you are turning off the grind function if using preground coffee and that the reservoir lid is securely closed.

Check the Cups Setting button; is sounds like the 1-4 feature may be turned on.

I have a cuisinart 12 cup thermal, it turns on as if it was going to make coffee (lights only) but no water runs through the pot. Grinder still works. Any help arreciated.

The water line may be clogged from calcification. Or the water pump may be going bad. If it is still under warranty, check with Cuisinart.

Cuisinart DCC-240 drip lid came apart, how to reassemble?

You may not be able to put it back on, in case you can't it is no bigee, all this does is prevent coffee from running everywhere if you remove the pot before the maker is finished making coffee.

Wait for it to be done and you will just have just a drip or two.

My cuisinart Grind and Brew is only making 4 cups of coffee. Can you help us to fix this? We've turned off the 1-4 cup button...but its still only brewing 4 cups, we have to hit brew again in order to get...

Another possible reason for backup - using paper/gold tone filter at same time. If not:

You have not missed anything. Unplugging for longer than 16 minutes (has 15-minute memory) is the only troubleshooting you can perform. Call Cuisinart to find out if you are still in warranty. All electronics have a failure rate. Cuisinart's is acceptably low, but their coffee makers are the least reliable of all their products. The basic problem with electronic coffee makers is that coffee makers produce high heat, and high heat kills electronics and melts plastic. At least Cuisinart has a 3-year warranty - higher than the industry standard.

Let me put it another way. All coffee makers have a high failure rate. As many Cuisinart coffee makers that break down, the non-Grind-and-Brews still have a 91 rating from Consumer Reports. Consumer Reports doesn't give ANYTHING a 91 rating. A lot break, but you probably won't fare much better by switching to a different brand. The problem with a Cuisinart breaking down is that an expensive unit broke down - you wouldn't be upset if your $15 Mr. Coffee broke every year. The law of averages is on your side - a 2nd Cuisinart will probably last longer.

Cuisinart Coffe Maker has no power

Cuisinart replaced the coffee maker. It was still under the 3 year warranty so Cuisinart told me to take it back to one of the stores that sells Cuisinart coffee makers because the store I bought it at was going out of business.
