That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

This is usually caused by one of the inverter transformers that drive the backlights, or the backlight itself. The capacitors should not be ruled out, to fix it will be expensive venture.

Check the fuse on the inverter board and also verify it does have have 12vdc feeding the fuse. Worst case will be the lamps, power supply caps look OK?

Here is a pic of the fuses on the inverter board for a Viewsonic vx900, you can visually inspect them as well if you do not have a volt meter. While visual inspection is not 100% reliable, usually when these are popped you will see the red line across them is black or broken.

I had to replace a fuse(F1) on the inverterboard of my VX900 to get it back to life as fuzzytek sugested.

It was replaced by a normal "flat" fuse (for cars). Had no clue about the value, so I tried with 0,5A first. It blew right away. Next value I had was 2A, and it worked! (It might be too small, and it might be too big, but I think it is better to usa a "large" fuse rather than no fuse at all. :)
