The DCS-760 uses SD cards. As you've discovered, SDHC cards do not work in it. SD cards max out at 2GB.

You'll probably find that it's the HC part that the camer doesn't like.
Try it with an ordinary 2GB SD card. I bought an SDHC card and found that my camera couldn't use it - nor could my card-reader read it. I had to buy another card reader. I'm using the card in a video camera now and have bought a bunch of ordinary SD cards for the camera.

I have a Norcent DCS-760 - digital camera - PENTAX I keep getting card locked message I ut a new card in there and still don't work

On an SDHC card, there is a micro-switch on the left hand side, which sets the card as locked or unlocked. Move this to the unlocked position. The card may also need to be formatted in the camera.

I have Norcent Xias digital camera and when I put in flash memory card "original or new" get message Card Error. What is the next step to resolve problem?

As long as you use a SD card it should work. But now most stores only sell SDHC cards and already there are lots of SDXC cards. Both won't work in the Norcent Xias.
Once there were 4 Gbyte SD cards now the 1 Gbyte cards are already SDHC, because they are faster and newer devices can use these.

Camera will not format sd card nor does it show a card in the camera

Something tells me that you're trying to use a brand new 4GB SDHC card. If so, your camera was designed before SDHC format came out. You'll need to use standard SD cards, those 2gb or less. Search on Amazon for "SD card 2GB". They run about 6 to 7 dollars total with shipping.
For others with similar problems, There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Other causes include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.

I have replaced the SD memory card 4gb in my dc-1020 norcent. Now it desplays card error. How do I fix this problem?

A 4Gb "SD" card will actually be an SDHC card. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

Loaded new memory card, and screen reads memory card error-memory card locked. Removed new card from camera, nnlocked card, inserted card again, but received same message. Please advise.

I'm guessing you bought a new 4GB SDHC card. Although it looks exactly the same as a standard SD card, the format the card uses is very different. If your camera is more than a few couple years old, it's likely it was designed before the SDHC format came out. Sorry, but a SDHC card will not work with older cameras.
For older cameras, you'll need to use standard SD cards (usually those 2GB or less). But if you really want to use a 4GB card, do a Google search for 4GB SD "non HC", with the non HC in quotes. Believe Transcend makes one.

I have tried 3 different Sd cards in my Norcent x125 DCS-760 camera. All 3 times I received a ''card error'' message. What can I do to fix this???

Hi,

May i ask, have you formated these cards before putting them into your camera?

If not then the first step is to format your SD card through the camera menu. (Read your camera manual to see how to format your memory card). If this does not help, try another memory card (say the small 16/32mb card that came in the box with the camera). If this card does not display a "memory card error", then the other card is at fault.

Hope this helps,

Camera says "card error"

Either you have pulled it out of the computer without disconnecting the hardware with the little green Icon ( at the right hand side of the computer ).

Or if you just brought it inserted it into a camera and it said " Card Error " then the contact points need cleaning , if you need help respond and I am more than happy to help

Thanks
