hi, the problem you are having is due to the ps3 over heating, if you have any warranty on it then take it back and get it exchanged, you wont be able to get the game out without it working or without taking the dvd drive apart.
to fix the ps3 your going to need to have the gpu and cpu chips heated up using a reflow station as the problem your having is with the solder on these chips what happens is when it over heats the solder cracks and you lose the connection with the circuit board so you need to get the solder reflowed to create a circuit again, its not something you can do yourself as you need special equipment to have it reflowed,
i do these repairs myself so now how difficult it is to get it right, shop around and see what price you can get, the actual problem you have got is called yellow light of death its called this as the red light flashes yellow just before it flashed red, it is worth getting fixed so shop around and see what price you can get.
if you have any warranty left then this is covered im sure sony cover this fault under warranty for 3 years but you will need to check this either by calling them or checking on their site.
let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
please rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts,
im sorry i couldnt give you an easy fix but without taking it apart and reflowing the gpu and cpu chip their is just no way of getting it working again
