According to the manual (pg 53) : "If the lamp is not securely reattached, the self-diagnostic function may be triggered and the POWER LED blinks three times."

1 Turn on your Sony projector after replacing the lamp.
2 Press the "Menu" button, go to the "Lamp Setting" option and select "Lamp Timer Reset." The projector should display a confirmation window asking, "Has the Projection Lamp Been Replaced?"
3 Select "Yes." You will receive a message onscreen saying, "Lamp Timer Reset Complete!" Select "Yes" again, and press the "Enter" button to finish.
If you have replaced the lamp in your Sony projection TV you must reset the lamp timer to get rid of the message saying that your lamp needs to be replaced. Let's face it, you know you already accomplished replacing the lamp but the TV isn't smart enough to know that. I will explain in detail how to accomplish the reset procedure.
Resetting the lamp timer is a complicated procedure but you should be able to do it if you have plenty of patience and know how to follow instructions. Read the procedure over first several times before trying to do it and locate all the buttons on the remote. You may want to try the procedure on the remote to make sure that you have the sequence memorized.
By the way the lamp life is figured to be from 5000 to 8000 hours. That is not much time if the TV is being used for more than 8 hours per day. If you do the math and watch your TV for 8 hours per day (not uncommon) the lamp will need replaced in 3 to 5 years. So be ready to do this procedure again in the very near future.
Here is the procedure.
All commands should be done using the factory remote:
1) enter the service mode by pressing display, 5, volume +, Power on
2) press JUMP 3 times
3) to display the time press channel 2, 9 times
4) to reset lamp timer press channel 3, MUTE, Enter
5) to check the time press channel 1, 7 times
6) when complete turn set off to exit.

Hello. Lamp timer have to be reset in service menu of your TV. Without resetting it you will have this message every time you turn TV on. I can not provide you with directions how to do it - it's forbidden by Sony for me to give information like this to the customer, because without proper training you can easy change some settings by accident that would not be restorative after all and it would cost you pretty penny to replace main board that have all memory settings. I would advise call any local TV repair and ask them to show up and reset timer (shouldn't cost you too much, they don't need to open up TV or anything like it). Or search internet for specific information (but do it on your own risk). Regards. Russ.
There might be a local store in your area that carries replacement lamps but probably will not have yours in stock and would have to order it. After you replace the lamp you will need to reset the lamp timer for your TV using the lamp replacement option on the TV general settings menu.
You did not post model number of TV so try below method to reset lamp timer.
Turn TV ON, Press and hold Volume minus button on TV and press Split/ Play button on remote for 6 seconds, lamp reset message will appear on TV screen.
Try resseting the lamp timer following the info below:
Procedure for resetting the KDF42WE655, KDF50WE655, KDF55WF655, KDF55XS955, KDF60WF655 or KDF60XS955 lamp timer: 1. Press the JUMP button 3 times on the remote to get to the Panel OSD mode. 2. Next press the remote channel 2 button 9 times to get to the Lamp Timer mode. 3. Press the remote 3 button, mute, then enter to reset the timer to zero.
It will take 45-50 seconds for the timer to reset. After the timer is reset you can shut the TV off. The lamp timer will remain reset (no need to save).
IF SET HAS ERROR 9 THEN THE S1 and S2 board ARE PROBABLY THE REASON. DID YOU USE ORIGINAL SONY LAMPS ? GENERIC LAMPS (ESPECIALLY IN SONY) DON'T LAST. AND IS THE SET IN A CABINET ? I HAVE ALSO SEEN PROBLEMS WITH THE FANS GETTING DUSTY AND THE VENTS ON THE SIDE OF THE SET FILLED WITH DUST. DON..
