Hi pillis_2y4,

The F1 error code description is a defective touch pad or clock (ERC). Here are some steps that you may apply to check if the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective.

1. Unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker. It is very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing.

2. Gain access inside the control panel.

3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC.

4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was.

5. Turn the power back on.

6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back

7. Please replace the ERC, if F1 comes back. If it does not, replace the touch pad.

Hope it helps.

Getting an F1 code on my kenmore range

F1 touch pad / ERC test This simple test will help determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is present.

Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock).

Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

I have a kenmore gas range model #790.75660. Several times recently when using my oven the F1 begins blinking on the oven control panel. I looked in the manual and have been able to turn it off but I...

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

F1 error means open/shorted oven temperature sensor or control board and to solve this problem the sensor needs replacement. If you want to do it yourself and wan to be sure before replacing the sensor then you can test it with a voltmeter between 1080-1120ohms....if it reads more then or less then this then it needs replacement however, if the reading is around between 1080-1120ohms then it is the control board that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

In the past couple of days the oven has been turned on, preheated and then shut itself off with "F1" appearing on the display. Can't figure out what this means. Anyone know?

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

Error code F1 is displayed due to electronic oven control failure and the only way to solve this problem is by replacing the control board which is bad. Sorry for the bad news but hope you understand... Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
