It sounds like you have the hot and cold water lines to the washer reversed.  Try turning off the tap for the hot water then setting the washer to just cold wash and then  hot washif you get nothing on the cold and cold water when set to hot they are probably reversed.  Typically if the auto-temp control is broken you will only get hot or cold coming out on any setting.

This sounds like a cold water supply problem that's usually caused by a problem at the water inlet valve. First, remove the water supply hoses and check the small screens inside the water inlet valve. Make sure they are not clogged with rust or debris. Next, check the solenoids using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty solenoid and the water inlet valve assy will need to be replaced. It is very possible for it to be a valve failur as these machines have a temperature control incommon, It recieves voltatge through the temp control.
