You can release the washer top from the base with a putty knife
See page 33 of the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual
Your machine is a FAV6800A or FAV9800A correct? If so you have Left Hand Lid Lock signaling issues to the Control Board.....are you the DIY type of owner? If so I will help you to issue resolution.

Door wont open
If that doesn't clear the OP error code it would be time to;
1. Confirm the 12VDC on the control board is good.
2. If good see if 12VDC is making it back to Conn_3 Pin 9 down to the LF Hand Lid Lock and thru the Magnetic Reed relay back to the Control Board Conn_3 Pin 9.
Before you go thru all that did you open the Left Lid Lock and make sure the Black lead on the magnetic reed relay did not break off from corrosion issues. I know I have a number of post on this board related to troubleshooting the left hand lid lock..................Rick
But some pic's for ref;
How to check that the magnetic reed relay is closing with you DVM.
I'm on P1 and P2 of the left hand lid lock. Those pin are referenced to the schematic jut for my troubleshooting info.
If you place a couple magnets over the left gray bumper and the "OP" error code doesn't clear then I feel you have a problem with the Left Hand Lid Lock.
