Is the wash tub rotating CW in the wash cycle (tumblers should rotate only)? You can release the washer top to observe. If so I feel there may be binding in what I call the Spinner support bearings you can see those at the end of my Clutch Fix post. Are you taking dc/uc unballance error codes while in wash cycle or just during spin cycle? I believe somewhere around series 12 and above the machine design went to the integrated lower tub bearing/One-Way roller clutch bearing. Any sign of wash water contaminating the Clutch Pulley One-Way bearing (rust)?.........Rich
If your FAV6800A or FAV9800A wash tub is banging around in Spin Cycle of the Wash Cycle and your Control Board signals a dC or uC error code to the console I feel you have a Clutch malfunction. I feel the TDS is working as designed with the unblance error code shut down. See my Clutch Fix post for more info related to dC and uC unbalance errors with the FAV6800A and FAV9800A TL’s and the repair action…….Rich
Don, I ask folks to give me some feedback when troubleshooting dC/uC errors with a feel for Wash Basket CCW/Spin direction drive system resistance. It sounds like the Outer Tub Bearings are going which means you have a Tub Seal Leak that took them out.The Clutch One-Way Roller clutches are probably contaminated. I would bet a bit rusty and are sticking not locking up completely in Spin Cycle causing tumbler movement at the start of Spin Cycle.See my Clutch Fixpost I go into a lot of detail for a fix and just what is causing the unbalance errors in Spin Cycle You could drop the clutch out and see if you can clean up the bearings and relieve the dC/uC unbalance errors for a while longer. Replacing the bearings is a bit more work see these post for what is involved. If your series is a 12 or above you may have to do as this forum member did. http://www.fixya.com/support/t3973659-fav6800aw_sn_15_top_loader_r_nunit Series 10 & 11 from what I have learned use the upper One-Way Roller Clutch bearing ring and not the integrated Lower Outer Tub bearing as in I believe the Series 12 and above do. Series 10 Outer Tub Bearing work I and another forum member are working on.The links will give you some direction if you DIY.http://www.fixya.com/support/t4028403-just_replaced_new_clutch_fav9800aww What are the first two digits of your Serial Number? Will be 10 through 17. Post back if we can help I’m an owner like you not a repair person.I feel the cost to have the Outer Tub Bearing replaced will trigger you to make a replacement decision……Rich
What are the first to digits of your machines serial number? It will be 10 thru 17. Did the machine bang around in Spin Cycle during the wash Cycle with the uC error code? The FAV6800A and it’s sister FAV9800A LCD display version of the machine suffer from a chronic Dry/Rusted One-Way Roller clutch issue.See this Clutch repair poston this forum for clutch maintenance and or replacement and this post on another forum.Read how to check the failure of the One-Way Roller clutches to slip in the CCW/Spin direction at this post. If you are just a bit handy you can do the maintenance or order a replacement from AZ they have the best price around $56. I will help you every step of the way…..Rich Couple of links to the Service Manual and Sears Parts Direct for reference. I’ll paste in how to check the Tub Displacement Sensor.I don’t feel that is the issue but is will give you a chance to go into Service Mode and check thru the lid for proper operation. Tub Displacement Sensor Diagnostics check. This test is done with the washer lid raised see page 19 of the SM for the details. It is possible the Tub Displacement Sensor may have failed try this check which is in the Troubleshooting guide stored in your washer console or refer to the SM.
a. Enter the Service Mode by pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00”
b. Press the Super Wash key display reads “in”…something like that.
c. Press Delicates the Display will show “UC” (Unbalance Closed).
d. Push tub to the back right corner of the machine the display should change to “UO” (Unbalance open). Release tub and the display will show “UC” (Unbalance Closed).
e. Press Hand Wash.
f. Pull tub to the front left corner while pushing the tub down the display should change to “UO” (Unbalance open). Release tub and the display will show “UC” (Unbalance Closed).
If you get these results your TDS sensor should be just fine and not the cause of dC or uC unbalance errors……fix the clutch and your machine will be J
Hello zacas6, dC/uC unbalance errors are caused almost all the time by a Clutch malfunction.Take a look this post and see if you want to DIY the repair.I will help you through the process. I would also check the Tub Displacement Sensor. This a thru the lid check and you get a feel of how to enter Service Mode. Tub Displacement Sensor Diagnostics check. Is your FAV6800AW or FAV9800AW failing with error codes dc or UC or both to the Console display? If you are I believe you are experiencing a clutch malfunction with your machine. Take a look at this post and see if your problem is similar.
If you have error codes to the display when the machine fails in the last 11 minutes (I believe start od spin cycle) can you let us know what those error codes are?
The "uc"code on the Neptune indicates a "continuous unbalanced circuit". Check to make sure that the weight of the clothing is distributed evenly in the tub. There can be a few causes for the generation of this code and you might want to consult an appliance technician for assistance. Bad shocks can cause this by permitting the tub to be out of balance, but you didn't describe any banging, etc. The tub displacement sensor could be at fault. The pump and pressure switch should also be checked for proper operation and to make sure there is no obstructions in those components. Really sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.
