Camera has blank white screen + crack from the inside out

Hi,

my COOLPIX L18 camera, when i turn it on, has a blank white screen & a diagnolisitc crack on the inside, and because of that, i can't really know the accuracy of the picture i took; however, im still able to take pictures, but it just won't display what im taking a picture of.
So im asking how i can get it fixed?

Chances are the manufacturer will not accept damaged screens. If you've got a new camera, try your luck. Cracked screens are highly unlikely as the screens are not under pressure or stressed from the way they are constructed. Much like the cellphone screens, they are pretty tough to break. I broke mine after more than 15 accidental drops.

The same thing happened to my 2 week old L18. I called the Nikon parts department and they want $59 for a replacement screen. I'll take the camera apart tonight and see if it is easy to replace.

L18 Screen part number: 0299-9042-60090

You don't need the disk to transfer your pictures from your camera to your computer. Just take your sd card out of your camera and plug it into your computer. A folder with your pictures will appear on your computer. Copy them to a different folder on your computer, so you can take your sd card out and still have them on there.
If that doesn't work, plug the cable in that came with your camera, and hopefully that will work. I hope this helps. Please rate my solution.

Try this, it may work without the software.  Turn off the camera. Plug the usb cable between the camera and the computer. Turn on the camera. If a box pops up on the computer asking what you want to do, scroll down and see if there is an option to view pictures. If a window opens up with all your pictures on it, great. Now open up a folder where you want to put your pictures. Bring up the other window with the pictures in it and hit the control key and the d key at the same time on your keyboard. Then drag your pictures to the window where you want them and let go of the mouse key.  They should all move over. Then you can use Windows image viewer to see them. Let me know if that works.

Most often the manufacturer will have a support and downloads area on their website.  You may find what you need here: http://www.nikonusa.com/Service-And-Support/Download-Center.page

L18nikon coolpix got drenched by sea water (a wave).now the screen is blank when started even though it worked well immediately afterwards.it is8.0megapixels 1600antishake AE3.0inch LCD -amritsar

Turning on a wet camera almost certainly will fry the circuits. Salt water will continue to corrode the electronics inside the camera. Start shopping and be careful next time.
