Audiovox MD1988 portable DVD player not spinning

if you are good with a srewdriver.. you could use a DVD from a computer and swap it to disney
Does the door to DVD slides out or pop the lid.
You still can swap if you are careful and you know what you are doing
I've done a few times.

you need to clean the disc and make sure it fits in wright if that dose not work try another disc.

i have an audiovox dvd player model D1718 . i put the disc in and it says it is loading but then comes up no disc . how can i fix this problem?

Open the casing, check the following and follow the instructions.
1. Clean the lens using cotton or cotton cloth.
2 Take extra care not to touch the lens with bare hands.
3. If the player displays "no disc" right after closing the tray then
check capstan motor if it spins smoothly.
4. Replace capstan motor if it cannot spin smoothly or if it seems it
cannot spin the disc.

I have the same problem! The only way to fix this is to replace the motor that spins the DVD. if you take it apart and spin the DVD the movie will play. The motor is just wore out and has no torque to start the play process. I am still looking for a replacement motor for it and haven't found anyone that carries the motor required. Only Audiovox so far and they want 180 to send in and fix.

I also pay 15 for broken units with any accessories you may have.

prob. the laser i have an accurian(radio shack) portable dvd with the same issue. spin motor fires fine but says no disk. just because the laser "lights up" dosent necessarily mean the read section works also. if anyone has a solution to locate a suitable laser please post here as i have a ton of lasers from various drives etc.

send the player to the technician to check it for u had it been I belong to your country I would have helped you to solt the problem,

Check the black spindle that holds the disk it may be cracked or broken or the little spring tabs are broken. If this is the problem when the disk spins it lifts up and the head doesn't read the disk, this is what has happened to mine. I am trying to locate the part but so far have not had luck finding it.
