This usually occurs when the load is too large, causing the cloths to push the door open. If this is not the case, you should replace the door latch mechanism, which is what keeps the door closed.

I HAVE A WHIRPOOL DRYER MODEL LEQ8858JQ1, AND IT TAKES TWO DRY CYCLES TO DRY MY CLOTH, DO YOU KNOW WHY, IT IT THE HEATING ELEMENT THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OR SHOULD I CHECK SOMEWHERE ELSE???

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Whirlpool duet dryer model #wed9400swo Dryer door pops open, stopping the cycle. Dryer is about 2 years old. Can I fix this myself?

Hello,

The most probable thing causing the door to pop open isa weak/broken door catch, its very easy to replace. To find it look on the mid center door rim opposite the hinged side, you will see a rectangular shaped plastic piece, thats the door catch. To remove it use a screwdriver and pop it out by placing the screwdriver on the inside rim of it and prying it out. To install the new one line it up and pop it in by pressing on it with your thumb, when you get the part it will come with the rectangle peice and the peice that fits in door, the part that fits in door is probably going to be good and no reason to replace. The part # is 279570 it could be found on line by simply entering that part# in a google search

Good luck,i hope this helps and if it does please give me a 4 thumbs up rating

Dryer is hot when opened, but takes 3 or 4 timed cycles to get clothes dry on very dry setting and timed setting

Check for a restriction in exhaust system, not just behind unit but all the way to outside vent, should feel warm decent airflow at outside vent.If not all you will end up with is warm moist clothes,You need good airflow to take away the moisture in the clothes not just heat. This issue can happen slowly over time and next thing you know its taking two or three times longer to dry even though when you open the door its hot inside.
Good luck

During the drying cycle, the dryer door opens

Chances are the little plastic latch keep is broken. Look at the door and locate a peice that will press into the front area where the clothes go in.
Once you see it, check the keeper and see if it is broken. The door should not just pop open.

Dryer door pops open. leaves burn marks on clothes.

check to see if you have bent door hinges first, do this by opening the door all the way down and see if it is level with the floor. if it goes past level then the hinges are bent.
guess someone may have fell on the door or used it as a step.
if so, then you can take a hand towel and roll it up, then put it at the bottom of the door and close the door gently to "bend" the hinges back into place. this will aloow the door to stay closed and should also take care of the "burn" marks on your clothes.
i would guess the unit was overheating from the door not closing right allowing air to enter around the door. that will cause the unit to overheat and leave marks on your clothes.
