To view the captions, all you have to do is turn on the decoder by following these simple steps:
Closed captions should appear within approximately one minute of adjusting this setting. If they do not, review this portion of your television's operating manual or contact the manufacturer of the television set.
Public Television stations do not transmit Closed captioning
First try disconnecting the Cable box and see if you can set it then.
Also, it may be the type of cable, the CC might not work with component
Please let me know if this works or if you need further options
Thank you for using Fixya and Good Luck
that is for cable, for anything not running through the cable box, you should be able to set it up right on the tv, try detaching the cable box and see if you can set the CC on the tv please
Please don't forget to rate this solution as that is one of the biggest aspects of all this website works
otherwise please let me know if you have further questions
Thank you
I'm sorry to hear that, I did not know that, Is there anything else I can do for you?
If I were you I would definitely write some letters about the cc problem to everyone that you can.

Hi there
It may be that the captioning is just not available with the other transmission formats. Sorry.

The Samsung doesn't let us select the closed caption heading - it is grayed out and not one of the choices we are allowed to make. Samsung told us we had to set up the cc through our cable box, which we did, but we don't get the cc on anything that isn't HD.
Nope, tried that too. We have Comcast. Comcast's cc works, but if the station of movie is not HD, the cc does not work.
The Samsung website said we had to set up the closed captioning through our cable, not through the television. The closed captioning option cannot be highlighted on the Samsung. The cc works only on HD channels or movies. The cc does not work on anything that is not HD.
That does not work either. I finally got some answers from the Hearing Store inSeattle. The new TVs do not pick up closed captioning that comes across internet i.e. digital because FCC does not require internet to have closed captioning. Bascially the cc is stripped when it comes across the lines. He said it is the nature of the new TVs and hopefully will be remedied by 2010. This is not a good thing for hearing impaired people.
We have watched a 3D movie and when I wanted to change the 3D settings, the problem occurred. The TV is only 5 days old.
