HAVE YOU CLEANED YOUR HEADS LATELY? THIS HAPPENED TO ME, AND LOOKED AT VERY EXPENSIVE HEAD CLEANERS THAT I WAS TOLD WOULD ONLY WORK. I SPOKE TO A SALESMAN AT OUR LOCAL RADIO SHACK WHO SOLD ME ONE FOR $2.00. IT WORKED GREAT AND TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM.

My hd 3 v5061u is on test mode how do i get it off

With your camcorder powered ON, and set to VCR / playback, there should show on the screen (viewer) something indicating "Menu" or a "FN" (Function) option. Select "Menu" (or Function icon to lead to the Menu). Check through the Menu options to find "Mode", and find the option for Normal Recording or playback, as opposed to "Test Mode", or "Demonstration Mode".

If this does not solve the problem, try this: Turn the camera OFF, remove camera battery, re-install battery, turn camera ON and see if that Re-set the camera. If not, it might be resolved by manually resetting the time and date. Then go to the Menu again to set Mode to normal recording or playback.

If those do not correct the problem, there is no shame in calling the camera company to speak with Tech-services. That's what they are there for.

SLOW DOWN PLAYBACK MODE

You cannot play SVHS tapes on a standard VHS machine. Your solution is to either:
1. Buy an SVHS Home unit (not a great idea)
2. Use regular VHSC tapes in your camcorder (these will playback fine in your existing home unit).
3. Hook your camcorder directly into your TV and use the camera as a playback device.

Gr-dvl-520u trying to record or playback tape it goes into safeguard mode within 5 seconds. alternatly pressing play and still every 3 seconds advanced the playback without it going into safeguard mod

According to http://www.techlore.com/article/10974/JVC-Camcorder-Stuck-in-Safe-Mode/,

"JVC notes that you are also given a malfunction code when the unit is placed into safeguard. If it displays code 01, 02, or 06 you should remove
the battery and powersupply and wait for a while. Code 03 and 04 indicate that you should eject and reinsert the tape.

If neither of these solutions work, your only alternative is to bring it to a shop or send it to JVC for diagnosis or repair. Unfortunately, there is no other way to clear the condition."

If you are getting E03 or E04 errors on every tape you try, it sounds like a servicing is required.

No playback

Hi there and thanks for coming to FixYa.

The M means that your camcorder is in manual mode. To put the camcorder in A or Automatic mode, hold the lock button down on the power switch and turn the switch to A.

DSC means Digital Still Camera - It's a mode of the camcorder.

Hit the SEL button to move through the DSC playback items.

Hope that helps you. If you have more questions, leave me a comment, and feel free to rate my solution.

Panasonic HVX200 will not play back tape

Your playback heads might be clogged. I am not sure if this camera with give you a RF warning if your record heads get clogged. Also most professional machines drums are rated at 1000 - 1500 hours before they need to be replaced. If you are at 500 and never cleaned the heads it is time to. Run a cleaning tape a few times.

Playback is choppy

I had this problem very recently. In fact I borrowed camcorders from my friends too and after short periods, they too started having the same problem. Essentially, it looks like there is some choppiness every second or so - like there is noise in the audio and video. After a lot of looking around, I finally found a suggestion posted that ACTUALLY WORKED on all 3 camcorders:

I placed an empty tape in the camcorder and recorded a few seconds into it. Then I removed that tape and tried to play the previous tapes that were showing the choppiness. No problems any more. Everything works fine.

What I still do not understand is why 3 camcorders (all DCR-TRV103s) all showed the same problem (with different tapes by the way). And since I still have lots of tapes to copy, I need to know why this problem is happening so I can minimize its occurrence while I complete the copying process.

People have suggested that my tapes are old and may be offering resistance to the camcorder. So I have ordered a rewinder to spin the tapes a bit before trying again. The two possibilities suggested around this was (1) some mechanical switching took place which got reset when recording; and (2) something got corrupted in the software that manages the playback buffer and that software was rebooted when it went to recording mode.

So while this will hopefully answer your question, I'm also looking for explanations for why this happened to me on 3 different camcorders.
