Can't break squelch ? Have Uniden Bearcat hand held scanning radi

I need to look at mine it could be a stuck monitor button or a q or chip failed . will get back with you. JR

The squelch control gets rid of the hissing on a blank channel. Finda blank channel, turn up the squelch control until the hissing stops. The scanner should then scan the channels and stop on a busy one.

The Bearcat Scanner is neat hand held scanner, Is the scanner programed? Depress the WX for weather and see if the weather channel is available. The squelch knob should be turned clockwise and the noise level should decrease (actually you are decreasing the allowable signals to be received). If you get no response from a know frequency, then the squelch pot may need cleaning or replacement may be in order.....Cost for repair at service shop may not be feasible.

try pushing you private button that you have you frequencies programmed into.this will scann your scanner. and then turn your squelch...

my uniden/bearcat (model bc60xlt-1 will turn on, i hear the squelch,but it does not scan- how do i get, and program the codes for my area?

Set the squelch. The scanner will stop when the squelch breaks.

hi . i w given a Uniden Bearcat 175XL 16 channel scanning radio. the OPERATION buttons are: PRI SPEED WX LIMIT SRCH HOLD DELAY LOCKOUT and in orage color: SCAN MANUAL. please help. the only thing i can get to hear is the WEATHER CHANNEL. i cant even hear the squelch. can u help

you have to adjust the squelch. When it scans it will stop when ever the squelch breaks. Start with the squelch turned up a little less then half way, then scan.

to listen to the programed channels you need to turn the squelch up to to the right and press scan it will scan all the channels and stop on the ones that people are talking on. you can down load the user manual at the bearcat scanner website.
