I have had my freezer for a yr and one day it stopped running

It is a haier chest freezer hmcm070e I tried unplugging it for a while turned it on and off and turned the temp setting up. when i plug it in it doesnt make any sounds. what do i do next?

Hi,

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer I have had my freezer for a yr and one day it stop - 2_bing.gif and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Oil in the evaporator. It may come back if you leave it running for a few days, but usually needs flushing out.

I got a Haier chest freezer (model BD101G) used; it worked when we unplugged it, but when I got it home it sat on my deck for a day before it was plugged in. Now every time I try to plug it in, it sparks...

Check to make sure the power cord was not damaged when moving it and is now shorting somewhere causing the problem.

Lost manual and need to defrost

This is likely a manual defrost freezer, which means you have to remove the food, unplug the unit, and let the ice melt on its own. Do not, and i repeat, DO NOT poke the ice away from the walls. I guarantee if you poke the ice away from the wall, you'll poke a hole in the wall, and force yourself to buy a new freezer.

SLOWER IS SAFER. put some boiling water, in the pot, inside the freezer, or use a hair dryer.

You may have a refrigerant leak. First make sure the lid has not warped and leaving an air gap for heat to enter. That's really about all you can do without getting a tech. involved.
