First when tapping changes the picture you have somewhere a bad connection; in electrical board or wiring. When the screen goes blank after a while means some capacitor is bad/old.
It seems that your unit has some sort of Video side, PSU fault, or a problem to the Video section that is shutting down the Power Supply Unit, PSU. This happens so that no further damage, and possible fire will occur.
You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done.
This model has what are called a LIPS board in it which is a board that has both the power supply and the inverter on the same board. What you need to do is replace this part and your TV will be as good as new. To obtain this board simply email [email protected] and they will let you know price and availability of this board. Please make sure to include model#, serial#, and TW#, all located on the back of the unit.
This is a Backlight Bulb or Inverter (power supply for backlight) failure.
If in warranty, take it to service
You can try to order an Inverter, or if needed you can get a replacement bulb (not easily available)
