Sharp LC-26SH12U TV. Sound has to be turned all the way up (50) to hear normally. Nothing but a DVD player connected - no cable, no regular tv. Using a composite cable. Troubleshooting done: tried a different cable, and different inputs - no difference connected a VCR to the TV - sound worked fine, maximum blasted me out of the house connected the DVD to an older TV - sound worked fine. ??

My LC-26sh12u takes 10 minutes to

I had a similar problem where it displays "PLEASE WAIT" for several seconds alternating with blocky colors for several seconds and continuing anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes.

I inferred from a couple of sources that the TV is booting up when it says "please wait" by reading data from flash memory. I was able to fix my problem by resetting the data in memory to factory default values using this procedure from the service manual (wait until the TV is working before trying this):

Turn on the POWER.
Set the VOLUME to minimum.
Press both VOL. DOWN button on the set and Channel button (1) on the remote control for more than 2 seconds.
After the finishing of the initializing of shipping, the unit will turn off automatically

TV going black still hear sound

I suspect if you are using the DVD to play via a Scart connector , then the problem is simply that the Scart cable has became a bit slack. Try taking the Scart out of the rear connections from the DVD & the TV & then just pushing them back in again to make sure they have a good contact.

'SHARP LC 26SH12U' & Philps DVP 5160

sounds like you are using standard audio/video cables (yellow, blk., wht) in the component conections on either the tv, vcr or dvd player. If you intend on using component connection you will need to use different cables.
