Where is the oil filler on a 8n tractor? - Ford 8N Tractor

  • Anonymous Apr 19, 2012

I am aware of the filter cartridge/canister, I am talking about the oil breather cap that is on the oil filler tube in the left hand side of the engine block.

  • Anonymous Dec 23, 2012

Oil is added to the engine through the tube the oil breather cap/dipstick is on/in.

Hello,

The filter is a cartridge that sits inside of a canister. The Ford 8N is actually easier to change the filter because it is on the side of the engine and not tucked underneath the engine.
Locate the oil filter canister on the left side of the engine and remove the oil canister cap with an adjustable wrench. The oil filter canister is located directly behind the alternator. Locate the thin metal handle on the filter cartridge and lift the cartridge out of the filter canister.
Take care.

I have water in the oil and in the radiater. more in the radiater than in the oil . what do i need to do

In order of probability, you have a blown head gasket, a cracked cylinder head, or a cracked block. Pray it is the first.

25 hp kohler liks oil true carburator

Sounds like the valves might be leaking a little bit. Pull the head and do a grind and reseat and new seals and sleeves . If it's a good old 8N, go all the way with a complete overhaul kit.

The steering column shaft in my 1954 Ford 8N tractor broke and I need info on howe to fix it.

Not sure, but if it's a 1954 model, it's not an 8N. 8N was only built thru 1952.
But sounds like you will need a new steering shaft.

Replacing 8N starter motor

IT helps to loosen the oil canister ahead of the starter and then begin inserting the starter with it tipped upwards and then gradally lift it as you insert it.
The hole should be oblonged out to make for easier insertion of the starter shart..
good luck.
