I had flashing Es every time I turned the hob on - got worse and worse until unusable. Neff help line useless - service call cost ridiculous. My problem was the capacitor on the 5 volt power supply had failed. 5 volt supply was at 3.8 volts. Replaced the capacitor and the hob's now perfect - a joy to use. Only helps if you are tech savvy and willing to open the unit, but may give you some hope or point you in the right direction.t

I just had the same problem with a Neff T4344 induction hob: when switching on and selecting a ring it would then switch itself off and 'E' would flash on the ring selectors and timer buttons.

Neff were unable to help on the phone - they suggested it was the child lock. They do however have a website listing replacement parts (with diagrams) for the hobs. With this in mind I opened it up - note the hob is outside of any warranty period and can still be fixed by a Neff engineer under a new cover plan even if it has been opened. They will say this on the telephone.

On quick inspection I noted that one of the capacitors was defective - a slightly bulging top and not flat like the others. The one in question was a 680uF,10v, 105 deg C, on the left hand circuit board. It's possible to buy a replacement board and fit it - at a cost of 267 pounds. However, I went for the option of buying a new capacitor for 19 pence, a soldering iron and some solder. All-in cost under 20 pounds.

Removing and installing the new capacitor was not difficult. The printed circuit board isn't multi-layered, just double-sided.

When putting the hob glass back on I also renewed the dabs of heat sink compound on the sensors in the middle of the rings (after cleaning off the old compound). This is the stuff that looks like white tipex. It's worth doing this to ensure certain safety/ other features work e.g. safety cut-out for over-heating, plate warming function, residual heat indicators, etc. A new 10ml tube of compound from e.g. maplin costs less than 4 pounds.

Hope this helps...

Sadly I have no solution to this but have what seems to be exaclty the same problem. Mine is just over 2 years old and each time I use it it 'error' and turns itself off. Once I turnit on again it is fine. I'm checking the internet to see if it is a common fault withNEFF before calling them.

Anyone know a solution?

So it's not just us who have this problem. Ours is about 18 months old. To compound this, the glass is now cracked. Any one know if it is possible to replace the glass ?

  • randnpethyb Sep 22, 2011

Yes I currenlty have that problem. We try to 'trick' it into turning on which it does after turning on and (eventually) off a couple of times. Would really like a fix

Induction hob neff T4243 has cracked will I need to replace it

Hi,
Did you crack your hob by means of impact or did it happen on its own accord?
I have a neff induction hob and has just cracked in 3 directions while cooking this evening. I am just trying to determine if there is a common fault with this neff product or I am just unfortunate. Mine is under warranty and have a engineer coming on Monday, so have the whole weekend with no hob as I have been advised not to use it.

Many thanks

Safety lock on Neff hob

I have a Neff T4344N0/08. I cannot stop all four hobs flashing - ie: I press the 'on' button all four flash, I then choose which one I want to use plus the number but they all keep flashing instead of stopping after the usual three or four. Please help - have I pressed something I shouldn't, perhaps a child lock?
