Please remove the 256MB from your computer. Then bring that memory module and proceed to the nearest computer shops. Ask them the specs of the 256MB then buy at least 1GB memory. It should be the same specs of your 256MB because if not it will not work.
Now, just in case the there is no available memory for your desktop. You need to replace the whole motherboard. Including processor, memory, etc. Just in case.

What video card can i buy for my computer ? I have a HP Pavilion a1120n . It already has an internal video card , but i want to upgrade . Its a Intel (R) 82915G / GV / 910GL Express Chipset with 128 mb...

I suggest you install an AGP video card that suits your requirements. If you play games that require a powerful graphics card, then I recommend the G Force range of graphics cards. A computer shop can recommend to you a graphics card depending upon what programs you are running on your computer. The games programs usually recommends a graphic card with their games.
Don't forget to disable/turn off the on-board graphics card in the BIOS if you use an external graphics card.

Adding Memory to HP Pavilion N5160

The motherboard will only recognize 256 module. If you go to crucial.com and run the memory test, it will tell you the maximum memory the motherboard will support. So buyin a higher memory stick is wasting your money since it will not support it.

Sdram capacity

its that 512 mb total capacity for your computer memory?? if so read this:
To find the total amount of RAM that can be added , subtract the amount of RAM currently in the computer from the maximum amount of memory the computer can hold. For example, a computer has 256 MB of RAM. If the maximum amount of memory the computer can hold is 512 MB, then 256 MB is the amount of RAM that can be added. this info from the HP website , to find out more , go to http://www.hp.com/support , enter the model number , and look for more information about your computer specs, hope this helps , please rate & thanks AJ
