I finally received a code to reset my anti theft code on my radio. I pulled the 10 amp fuses out of the fuse block and then re-insert them (this was suggested online here at FixYa) and the system still reads Code Error in window. What should I try next?
My car (2005 Honda CRV) was shipped overseas and the radio asked for a code. After several tries, I searched the internet for a solution. Apparently Honda now allows you to obtain the code through their provided website. You will need the VIN #, the phone number and zip code that is on file when you purchased the car. Our car was purchased used and did not come with a manual. When I went to enter the code in I had already entered too many tries, now it reads ERROR E.
However, even before having the code (as well as now that it reads ERROR E) I can get the radio working. Push in preset buttons 1 and 6 and push in the power button simultaneously. A long number appears - at that point I pushed preset button 2 and the radio operated normally. Unfortunately, I do need to do this each time I turn the radio on.
After HOURS of looking, a site that is currently working for fixing this issue ishttps://radiocodevault.com/honda/

I had Error E code which means I put the wrong code in 10 times. Honda says 2 ways to fix this. In the fuse box under the hood, remove the "Backup" fuse for 1 minute and 10 seconds(or 2 minutes) then replace. If this doesn't work, place key in ignition and turn to the FIRST position. Allow key to remain in this position for ONE HOUR(to be safe, try 1 hour 2 minutes.)
Turn key to second position and the errors should be erased and the CODE will come up. Put your code in and the radio should work.
I still have 45 minutes!
I have a 2009 CR-V EX-L, the battery went dead and I got the "Code Error E" message. I did not know where the reset code was, so I went to the dealer. The guy at the desk found the code in my service book. He tried to re-set and couldn't, then he removed the "backup" fuse for 10 mins and re-installed The Code Error E was still there. I couldnt leave the car so I left. I tried removing the "Backup" fuse, while it was out I checked the radio, still had power, just the door locks didnt work. Finally I disconnected the battery for 10 mins, when I re-connected and turned on the rado, I had the option to enter the code, I did and it worked. Note that the owners manual said after an hour you would be able to re-enter the code if you got the Code Error E message, but that did not happen. Only thing that worked was disconnecting the battery.
You need to put 4 or 5 digits number that can be found in the glove compartment do not touch anything in the radio could lock the radio for 12 to 24 hours simply enter the numbers using the radio buttons and it will be fine don't go to the dealer they will charge you over 200 for one minute fix that you can do it by yourself
21 Aug 2010 I have an 03 Honda S2000 and after a battery changed I managed to put the radio code for my wife's Insight into the S2000 radio instead of the right one - it came up with CODE E. I turned the ignition to the 1st 'notch' and left it for 40 mins. The display then reverted to CODE and I was able to insert the correct code. Simple!
To get rid of code error E, disconnect battery or remove fuse for 5 to 10 mins then enter your radio code. If you disconnect for a too short period of time, it won't work.
I followed the above and every time I put the 5th number in it went back to error. When I put the first 4 numbers in it spelled c.o.d.e
I found that it worked if I:
took out the backup fuse
Put it back in a minute or so later
Entered the first 4 numbers
Turned radio off then on again
Entered the 5th number.
Hey PRESTO!
same thing happened to me. Followed this suggestion and it worked!!

The best way I've found to get a radio code for a Honda CRV (Any Honda in fact) is by using the below website. It's free and will show you how to get a radio code for your car.

05 CRV battery went dead, replaced now radio reads error e. Used vehicle no owners manual. No code in glove box. Windows need to be reset? what else needs attention?Christine,
I got the error E also. i did what it says in the instruction manual to fix the problem ex. Disconnect the battery or leave the unit turned on for an hour but neither works
You can get a radio code here: https://radiocodevault.com/honda
The https://radiocodevault.com/honda website actually worked for me. Would recommend to anyone else needing to fix their radio. Got it done asap :)
I held volume preset 1 & 6, after the long number pops up, press 2. This will unlock it for a temporary time, then turn the radio off and then back on it will be unlocked to enter your code.
