Problem with RCA D52W20 HDTV rear projection television

It is kind of difficult for me to explain what is happening, but I will try my best. I bought the television in July of 2005 and had no problems up until a few months ago. A few months ago, my television after being turned on was showing a very blurry picture. Also, the screen size I keep stopped being locked in and it would change until I redid it. The blurriness would go away after time, and within a half hour or so the picture on the television would be fine again. That went on for a few weeks then went away. It has been fine since then for the past two months or so. A week ago it started doing the same thing. When I would turn on the television it would be very blurry and it would take a little while to lose the blurryness and actually have a viewable picture. However, this time, after the blurryness goes away, the screen flickers and I hear a crackling type sound. Everytime I turn on the television it gets worse and does it for longer periods of time. I checked the aux channels and it does the same thing when I use a DVD player, or XBox, or anything else on the television. Today the crackling anf flickering has not stopped at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Am I out of a big screen television or is there something I can do to fix it?

How is a flyback installed? I am not very good with electronics, and don't have much in the way of equipment. Before I buy the part I want to know that I can install it. Thanks for any help.

I ordered the flyback, but I have no tech support. Can you tell me how to get these wires disconnected? There's a black wire and a red wire coming from the flyback, which do not want to come loose. I traced the black wire to the front of the tv, and I can disconnect it there. The red wire however, cannot be disconnected easily at the flyback nor at the front of the TV.

I own a rca d52w20 television, (pretty old, I know) and the red isnt really red, and the green is kind of brownish. is it worth fixing? i just bought it for $100 dollars. thanks

i would suspect the glycol has gotten dirty. as the serts age there is a repair that can fix this .....but no i am sorry to say. most shops charge a bit for what is called a "gycol change" this is labor intensive. my shop gennerally charged around 100 per tube and 20 for the fuid. 3 tubes= around 350.
