Why is there a burn like smell eminatting from back of new dishwasher

1. Damaged or frayed wiring that can overheat and cause a burning smell. You should check the internal wiring of the dishwasher for any sign of damage, such as burns, exposed wires , or melted insulation . 2. malfunctioning or worn-out motor or pump bearing that can create friction and heat, resulting in a burning smell. 3. Residue from the manufacturing process that heat up when the dishwasher operates, creating a fishy or rubbery smell

Burning smell

If it smells like burning a burning plastic/ceramic then your brakes are locking up and burning. Next time it does it, see if the smell is coming from the rear tire. if so, its time for a brake job

Smell

Hello, In most cases when you have a burning smell a simple fix is your lint lines are dirty. A lot of time when your filter or your hose that goes out the back (by the wall) gets dirty it gets hot and starts to burn. There have been some cases where it will catch on fire, so always make sure lint filter and hoses are clean. Other forms of burning smell can be the dryer belt is waring out or loose, Kind of link when a vacuum cleaner belt gets worn and starts slipping and burning rubber smell. AND Finally could be the main barring that could be going out.

My advice start with simplest first, check vents and lint filter and go from there.

I hope this helps Mike.

Will drain most of water but will not spin and smell something burning

The motor is probably stuck and burned. Open the door and turn the drum manually. You should be able to turn it easily by hand if the motor is not stuck.

Remove the back panel and use your sense of smell to verify where the burning smell is coming from. The possible source of the smell is the motor or the motor control board located on the left side of the machine viewed from the rear.

Let us know the source of the smell for the replacement guide and for further troubleshooting if necessary.

Amana bottom freezer has a burning smell coming from the back of it. Fan is still working.

Is this burning smell occurring during a defrost? Something, like a food particle or wrappping, could be burning while in contact with the defrost heater. Is the burning smell coming from within the freezer? If it is coming from the outside and back of the box, unplug the box and investigate, or call a technician. You may want to call a technician, anyway? We don't need house fires.

Burning odor, no heat

A burning smell along with a different sound (growl) USUALLY indicates a breakdown in the High Voltage Side. This is not a direct short (short circuit) or the line fuse would have blown shutting everything down. The High Voltage Side is made up of-- The Secondary ,or High Voltage Side of The High Voltage Transformer, A High Voltage Diode, A High Voltage Capacitor, and The Magnetron. If The High Voltage Transformer is the problem it will smell like a florescent light ballast burning, and will smell each time you turn on the MW. A HV Diode burns and opens, thus no more smell. A HV Capacitor usually does not burn nor does the Magnetron. There is no Cheap-Fix unless you can see that the HV Diode is burned into and you can get to it to replace. CAUTION: Always unplug from power before attempting to repair. NOTE: If you replace a Diode make sure it goes back in the same direction it came out. Yes there is a front and back.
