Inifinity Entra Sub not working

I have an Infinity Entra Sub for my home theatre system. Well a few (about 5) years back probably about 7 months after I bought it, from CIRCUIT CITY, it stopped working just had a loud annoying hum. so i took it back to get it fixed I bought a 1 year warranty for the sub and polk audio surround sound speakers and they tell me that I only bought the extended warranty on the surround speakers not the sub and they told me I would have to send it back to INFINITY to get it fixed but I wasn't going to pay the shipping to get it fixed. So it's just been sitting here unplugged and I figured I would tear it apart to see what the problem is. Well I hooked it up today and had the HUM so I unplugged the speaker on the inside and checked to make sure the speaker works and it works fine so the problem must be inside the amp, well when I hooked the speaker bac up there was no more hum, but it still won't produce any sound.

Anyone know what my problem could be?

The hum can be from the power supply not properly filtering, and or the output stage also has a short.

There is the chance that the speaker driver coil is now burned, or the power supply is now dead. If ther output stage is shorted and was putting DC on to the speaker cone, this will burn it very easily.

You should sent the unit out and have it serviced, unless you are properly trained, have the service and engineering manuals, and the test equipment to follow up on a proper repair and calibration.

After some time on, the sub starts popping. unplug and plug in and it stops for a while. Is this the sub or the amp

No speaker spontaneously makes popping noises unless it is driven so hard the mechanical parts are crashing into each other. The amp is probably stressing out due to heat, which would explain the delayed onset of the symptom and its disappearance after a cooldown.

Perhaps you are overdriving it??

How do u hook up the infinity entra sub it has speaker level(input and output) that look like these red and black spots r for spearker wires and then line level input so I connect my music to the rca plugs...

Maybe if you described the setup with exact model numbers for everything involved we might be able to answer with specifics.

You could poke around her for the Entra Manual for YOUR model.

http://manuals.harman.com/INF/Hom/Owner's%20Manual/

What they do NOT explicitly tell you is that the amp in the sub is not for your other speakers running off it's Speaker Level outputs. They're just there as a pass-through if you use Speaker Level from your own amp.

Line Level (RCA) IN to the sub will NOT pass anything out those Speaker level outputs.

Ours broke and the only other place we could find one was from the dealer and it was even more expensive. Do your tower speakers still work without the mic?

Infinity Entra Sub 150 no sound or power

I had the same problem. When I opened it up, the fuse was blown, and it was a pain to find the fuse it needs (3 Amp, 250 V slow-blow fuse, 5x20 mm). Also, the 2 large electrolytics (big purple things near the amp) and one small capacitor were all blown. For 4 fuses, bought seperately from, and the 2 electrolytics and 1 capacitor, it cost about $20, plus almost 20 more in shipping, which still isnt bad considering the original price of the sub. However, the tricky part is that you have to know how to use a soldering iron to take out the old components and put in the new ones.

Have an existing ts-1100 home theatre infinity speakers

You cannot use this system with one that does not have a Subwoofer or LFE (Low Frequency Effect) output. Unfortunately, this sub doesn't have a line-level (speaker wire) input. Sorry.
