On F&P machines the inner tub floats away from the dog clutch allowing the agitator to wash without attachment to the drum. When you empty the machine the inner drum settles back on the dog clutch and can be engaged for spinning. A loose drum when full of water is probably not a fault..
37 error is pump fault. Water level not changing.
The pump may be blocked/jammed and be overheating, or it may have failed.
You'll need to unplug the power supply at the socket.
You'll need to empty the machine.
When the water level is low you can lean the machine back to access the pump motor under the tub. Turning the fan blades can sometimes dislodge the obstruction. If the fan turns freely retry the spin mode to empty the machine..
If the pump is jammed you'll have to remove it and clear the port.
Make sure you've emptied the machine as any water left in it will run out when you remove the pump.
carefully study the pump before removal. Take note of the latch which locks the pump in position. Earth wire to open spade connector. Power wires to pump via plug. Remove and clean. Replace and test.
If the pump still overheats it should be replaced or it will damage other components. The pump resistance should be more that 33ohms..
F&P reccommend pump replacement if less than 33ohms.
Good luck.....Nomess

Hi just read your posting. The error code 37 is called PUMP BLOCK ERROR.Please look underneath your machine to the front right. You will see a red or black fan. This is your pump.Check with a torch if there is any rusting of the pump or leaks. Also turn the fan on the pump anticlockwise and clockwise a few times as it may be jammed. Please reply and let me know if the pump has corrosion or is leaking or is jammed.Looking forward to your reply

Maytag legacy series washer

The drive motor which spins the drum is connected to the drum by a rubber belt. Sounds like the belt is burned through. Make sure you can spin the inside tub by hand to verify that the tub can turn freely before you replace the belt. The hum is from the drive motor just spinning freely.

My kitchenaid washer has a burning smell

Hi, a slipping or severed belt will produce a burned rubber smell. A belt supports the drum and ensures its smooth movement. If it wears, the drum's movements weaken and finally come to an abrupt halt. In addition, a slipped or severed belt usually produces a burned rubber smell. Refer to the washing machine manual to review how to locate the belt. If the belt is no longer around the drum's center, shift the belt back to its original position. If rubber fibers are discernible or cracks are apparent, change out the worn belt for a new one.

Thank you.

Washer wont spin, smells like burning rubber

The burning rubber smell is coming from the belt which goes around the drum and is driven by the motor. The belt has probably stretched and is now slipping. It will need to be replaced.

Good luck!
