Hi, I have a Maytag Performa PYET444AYW electric dryer. It is not heating up all of the time. I have already taken out the element and had it tested. It was fine. Everytime it quits working I pop open the top and check the fuses and the element and they all appear to have continuity. Most of the time when I shut it back up and plug it in it works again. Do you have any other suggestions I can try?

Krazytech, Just because your solution didn't work for me does not mean it won't be helpful to someone else who reads it. It was just not helpful to ME...but thanks for the personal attack. You may be a "Master" at technical questions, but you fail miserbly at customer relations. By the way, some people need help with THEIR spelling before posting THEIR negative replies.

SOURCE: No heat from dryer.

Do not buy or use a maytag performa dryer model number pye2300ay at all. I fyou have one unplug it and take to the landfill or scrap yard. They are complete junk and nothing but a hassle. One problem after the other on this model no matter what you do. they are complete trash and a waste of your money.

I have a maytag performa electric dryer with no heat, checked fuses, replaced heat element and thermostat, any ideas

Have you checked to make certain you have the proper voltage where the dryer is plugged in? 220v? A dryer will run on 110v but requires 220v to heat. Could be a problem with the breaker in the breaker box. If you are not familiar with electricity, I suggest you find someone knowledgeable ie professonial

I have a maytag performa dryer wont heat up sometimes

Hello there:
If there is no heat or heat sometimes please try these solutions
Heating element Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable. Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.) Wiring A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

My maytag dryer heating element gets hot but motor will not run

Sounds like you have something shorted out.

The element issue could be a contact fused shut.
With both problems I would be looking for wires melted together, or a relay/sequencer welded shut melted etc.

You do have a potential fire hazzard here. If after removing the panel you cannot locate the problem, do not run the unit.

My dryer doesn't appear to be drying as fast as before.

Most times this is because there is a restriction of the air flow leaving the dryer exhaust pipe. This will cause a buildup of heat and cause the high limit to turn the heat off. If clearing the exhaust pipe of crimps, dust or clogged line does not help then let me know. Thanks, Sea Breeze
