Where is the drain and how do you access it to unplug it?

  • Anonymous Oct 09, 2010

The drain is in the freezer located in the back under the cold coil . . every 8 hr of run time the defrost cycle clears thecoil of ice build up / this water drips into a drain pan and drains through a tube that goes to the pan under neath. at that point the air the cools the compressor dryes out the pan . . if the water does not go through this tube it ends up on the floor of freezer and out the door on the floor . some models you can not see the drain unless you remove the back of the freezer . your's will be like this . / to clean drain I use hot water and a turkey baster . .. hope this helps you . mm

Sounds like you have a frozen drain line. I would unplug the unit at let the drain line thaw. This would be the easiest way to rectify the issue. Leave both doors open for 24 hrs. Hope this helps _MJ_

MZD2766 GE - A puddle of ice forms at the bottom of the freezer

Sounds like the defrost drain is cloged. There is a hole at the bottom of the freezer behind the back wall. if this is cloged then the water that is suppost to drain there will overflow and freez.

Refrigerator not cooling: Maytag Plus: Model MSD2756GEQ

Your PTC relay is bad and needs to be replaced. It is on the side of the compressor that connects the wires to it. Cost is about 50 maytag price or you could go with a 3 in 1 cost about 15. If you need any help get back with me and can walk you though it. Ken

Water on floor from freezer side of Maytag side by side unit.

Yes I just had that happen to me. An appliance guy came over for my stove and I asked him if he could tell me why I wake up everyday to a puddle. He told me to take the baskets out unscrew the three screws and pull the panel off, then pour some hot water in it and use a turkey baster to blast the drain hole with. It worked. Sears repair man couldn't even figure that out when it was under warranty. Took me 15 minutes. Good Luck

Water puddling in bottom of freezer and freezing

the drain in the back of the freezer is probably full of ice. you need to pull out panel and use heat from a blow dryer to unplug the drain. then take a small gauge copper wire long enough to extend into the drain a couple of inches and loop it around the black heating element then when it goes yhrough defrost it should keep this from reaccuring
