Replaced both resistors r7011 and r7015. r 7015 burnt up. would this be from bad soldering or incorrect cable reconnection? or would it be wrong part or another problem?
i replaced 2 resistors that had burnt up on panasonic pt53tw53. after i reconnected all the cables and turned the set on, the resistor for r7015 burnt up, the set shutdown and flashed 3 blinking red lights.i replaced 2 resistors that had burnt up on panasonic pt53tw53. after i reconnected all the cables and turned the set on, the resistor for r7015 burnt up, the set shutdown and flashed 3 blinking red lights.

Some people can take the cluster out and find bad solder joints or burnt out resistors placed on the back of the cluster circuit board. Without even knowing what they are looking at, easy enough to see if any resistors are burned or solder joints came loose. Resolder or replace the resistors. Lots of youtube videos on this common problem. Search instrument cluster not functioning or speedo not working-etc. Also,buickforums.com is a great resource with a section for the Roadmaster.
where exactly are these resistors located? any idea about the circuit board resistor numbers? sometimes burnt resistors do not go completely bad and is still possible to measure their values. why not take them out and try measuring their values. otherwise u have to b very specific about the rsistor numbers
Doug, convergence circuit is failing, involves removing one of the boards, replacing the convergence IC`s and probably a couple of burnt resistors, not a "layperson repair", requires soldering experience, accurate voltmeter to find the bad resistors, etc. I would suggest calling a tv tech for this repair, questions? e-mail me back BMW Rider
Solder any / all bad solder connects. While doing that,Look for
overheated areas in power circuits, caused by bad capacitors,
resulting in burnt/open resistors,shorted diodes,etc,.........T.
look at the convergance board it will be the one on the left there re two stk semi-conductors tward the back of the board. most likly one of them are bad but sometimes the soldering can be faulty. look for signs of cold solder if so just resolder and should be good if not also look for burnt resistors. it will be obvious finding the stk 's can be done by using google and just type in the stk # finding the resistors you might try calling panasonic to find the part #by telling them the location of the burnt resistor. good luck. mind you that the soldering of the stk (semi-conductors) you will want to use a heat sink on each terminal you solder otherwise you take a chance of burning the conductor befor you ever get to use it, if you have no exp. soldering i wouldnt sugest trying it !!!!
