Hi, I have a 42" LG SD Plasma TV that is 5 years old (model PX423RVC-TA). A week a go the picture went pink / purple even on the OSD on any input, this was intemittanty. Now the their is no picture, but sound! I have read that this could be the YSUS board?? I have checked the boards and there are no buldging caps etc. With the fault originally being pink/purple to good and then no picture, could this be a capacitor problem or would it be the chip? Thanks Paul

SOURCE: LG Plasma Problem

This could be the main drive board failed, or the plasma display backplane has a defect. These types of repairs are generaly fairly expensive.

I would be considering to get an estimate just in case it is simple fault. But, if the repair will cost more than a few hundred dollars, I would strongly suggest a new set. Also, servicing an older set is a gamble in case something else will soon fail.

SOURCE: Philips Plasma 42" - constant purple haze

all philips plasma sets have issues with overheating heatsinks.
any heatsink that burns you upon contact is a recipe for disaster.

using cooling fans on these overheating parts will generally provide
great reliability in the long rung.

SOURCE: ysus board

the mainboard, controls the audio, Tv Tuners, Vga , HDMI, S- Video inputs.

The Y sus or (Y-Mainboard ) Is used to control the Panel (LCD) Video, it has 2 buffers that contol h/v lines in upper & lower regions.

SOURCE: PINK SCREEN ON DAEWOO PLASMA TV

Sounds like your panel might be going out or a faulty video card. This is the first time I have heard of a solid pink screen on a plasma. Usually this happens on LCDs, though they sometimes go white and stay white, which does signal a bad panel. tv needs repair

I do believe the Panel is bad and needs to be replaced. Check with the manfacture to confirm this.

Hi Have this model for about 5 years and picture faded this morning. connected to cable and tested with a DVD input same result...is the TV repairable or do we need to get a new one? thanks

unfortunately plasma TVs have a certain shelf life, the plasma only lasts a few thousand hours, i would'nt competely scrap the TV, put a small ad in the newspaper asking to buy a plasma, same model that has been hit by lightening or power surge with an offer, chances areyou might be able to slavage the screen.

42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

Our LG 50" plasma tv screen went black after a popping noise but still had sound, after great diliberations decided to take the back off and have a peek!
We unplugged the tv and tested the fuses (there were three we could see) one had blown, the one on the left as you look at the back of the tv it also has one above it. We wrote the code/seriel number down and took the fuse to the electrical wholesalers Maplin and bought a pack of 10 fuses for £1.29 replaced the fuse in the tv and everything now fine!!!!!!
Hope this might be of use to anyone whose lost the picture after a loud popping/snacking noise but still has sound.

LG PLASMA TV WITH COLOURED LINES OVER SCREEN

If the Video (Picture/Pix) is gone but you can hear the Audio (sound), then it could mean the YSUS PCB Assembly is gone/kaput/finish. Can replace the PCB, not repair the PCB due to timing circuitry involve. Cost maybe roughly $500 depending where you located. The PCB is located on the left hand side of your TV when you are facing the back (Back open). Might find 3-4 brown flex membrane connecting to the plasma panel. The PCB has a silver or black aluminum heatsink (big) on it.
Good Luck.
