The dark halo, is caused, by the size of the lens. The convertor lens, is smaller than the front lens of your Samsung and blocking the light on the sides.
That is the halo you see. If you want a conversion lens for your Samsung, you need a bigger one.

Go to this link. There is both a Basic and an Advanced version of the manual. Click on the link to open the manual, then click on the Save icon to save it to your computer.
Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its working again.
if that doesn't work try
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times. good luck
