I have a KitchenAid Superba that I bought in 1997. I've never had a problem until recently the ice dispenser started freezing up, and frosting so that ice can't get through the chute. I think a gasket or the flapper is damaged, but I'm not sure how to make sure, or what all has to be replaced.

SOURCE: Ice dispenser

I fixed it by replacing the solenoid that operates the flapper door and the flapper door. They came as a kit and both were broken.

I still have a problem which is a bad circuit board. I can't switch from ice to water. I am stuck on ice, so I have not bothered to fix.

SOURCE: SubZero 690: Frost builds up on ice chute flapper door

you have a bad seal, Take a dollar bill and slide it in between the door seal and the frig. slide it up and down to see if if has drag on it. If you find places it dont touch loosen the screws and adjust the hinges till it fits tight. In some cases you might have to tweak the doors if they need it.

SOURCE: ge profile artica ice dispenser and chute frosing.

This may be because the chute door is not all the way shut when off. If yes the warm moist air is being pulled through the opening and causing this. Sea Breeze

SOURCE: flapper in ice chute continuously freezing up

I am not sure but I think you have a bad door gasket in the freezer. This allows ambient air to come up through the chute.
Good Luck,

HI, I have a KSRL25FRSS00 side by side. The icemaker fills with water and freezes, but doesn't dump the ice cubes. I've used a hair dryer on it to melt the ice a little and have got it to dump the...

There is a heater in the ice tray that is supposed to thaw the cubes a little bit so they don't stick to the edge of the tray. When the heater does not work the ice sticks and the motor wont dump them out. There may be a small leak in the pipe at the place of joint which lets small amount of water out and it may be this water that freezes. Have a check of that tube and if necessary get it replaced.

Our KitchenAid just started leaking. it is coming from the front ice dispenser on door. seems many people are having this problem. there is also "snow" on ice maker and bucket. and the temperature...

Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

The excess frost on the ice maker and bucket can be caused by the ice chute door not closing all the way or a leaky door gasket letting air in.

Freezer and icemaker freezes, jams.

I have run into this before and found it very helpful to re-level the refrigerator. By leaning the fridge back toward the wall about an inch helped keep the water and ice in the tray. Remember to remove items that block air flow in the freezer. Remove the ice bin and clean it then start over with the fridge leaning back a little. Hope this helps.

Kitchenaid superba ice freezes in the bin

The temperature of your freezer is probably set to low allowing the ice to melt a bit, then refreeze. Try setting your freezer temp a bit lower. That should fix it.

Kitchenaid Superba Ice Maker quit

Make sure your manual doesn't say something about inline filters, or a float that might be sticking in off position. Depending on how ice is made sometimes they have a float to where water rises so hight then gets shut off to freeze and form the ice.
