BLINKING RED LIGHT IS ERROR CODE.
1. Unplug set for a few minutes.
2. Plug back in and turn on.
3. When red power light starts blinking--COUNT THE BLINKS.
4. THREE BLINKS, pause, THREE BLINKS (ETC) IS SHORT PROTECTION AND A DO IT YOURSELF repair for some people. I have complete instructions for this repair.
5. 5 blinks, pause and 5 blinks etc is short on 140 volt line and while not as easy as 3 blink error code it points to places to look at.

There is no easy fix for the 5 blink---you will need to remove the light box for this set (not real hard) and check the horizontal output transistor for being shorted and also inspect C509 in same area for a crack in its case.so you got a meter? I can tell you roughly where to look for both of those parts--it means a short usually right there.
