For my Whirlpool Gold Ultimate Care II Top Load Washer- I encountered similar problem as this one whereby washing machine will fill and go through cycle but will not drain and go into spin cycle. I tried to adjust the height of the drain pipe and explore possibility of clogged drain pipe but it didn't help to solve the problem.

My washer fills , sits, does not agitate, empties and spins.

I had the same problem. Take the agitator off by pulling on it extremely hard - use allen wrenches in the slots on the sides to help. This exposes the "air bell coupler" - take the 7/16" bolt out and slide it off. Chances are the spline is stripped out inside. The part is 5 bucks online

Will not drain or spin

Unless you jarred the machine it's the timer. You can check this by bypassing the lid switch and seeing if it will cycle.
