You will have to take the drive off, put it on an external hdd enclosure with a usb connection, connect it to a working computer, scan it for viruses and spyware, copy all of your data to another device (i.e. hdd, flashdisk, cd, etc). Then, reinstall the hd back on to the original computer and turn it on. If it works it you've solved your problem. If it doesn't then reformat your hdd, reinstall your operating system, programs, and data.
Time consuming? yes but it works.

Computer crashes on startup, goes to system repair

What you need to do is first try pressing F8 when the machine first boots, this will put you into safe mode, when it comes up choose Safe Mode with networking. When it comes to the point asking you to choose system restore or safe mode desktop choose system restore. When you are taken to the restore window, choose a date close to when it was "Last Used it" before you took it in. Run the system restore it should put your laptop back to the way it was
IF it doesn't, or you can't access safe mode..Well you WILL have to get a copy of the Operating System, I'd guess Vista? or XP, whatever... now you will have to boot on that DVD, set BIOS to "Boot from DVD" then go through untill it asks if you want to repair startup issues say yes and let it run, that should fix it.
IF not, then you are simply going to have to "Bite the Bullet" and do a reinstall of your OS using that same DVD boot on it again and do an install to the SAME folder as it is in now, that should fix it.

Boy what a pickle, that Ahem "Repair Shop" didn't do you any favors me thinks, anyway If you were my client.. well suffice to say... you wouldn't be having this problem at all.
What has happened is you have had setting changed when you hooked up to USB, this is NOT a move you should have been told to do. The result is why.

Toshiba satellite A105,My wife dropped laptop now when you try to start I get error message operating system not found, try to boot to bios and get several quick beeps

Harddrive has probably crashed or the connection have become loose. Flip the laptop over and look for the Harddrive assembly. Usually has 1 screw holding it in place. If you feel comfortable enough - remove the screw and pull the HD out and slide it back into place. See if the connections are simply loose.. If that does not work you probably need to replace the HD.

Laptop crashed

Try this:
  1. Turn on the laptop
  2. Wait for the first page to go blank.
  3. Start to press the F8 key repeadly
  4. You should get a Windows Start" page pop up that gives options on how you want to start Windows.
  5. If you see the Windows Logo (the screen you normally see when Windows starts) screen then just restart the laptop again.
  6. Choose "Last known Good Configuration" and press Enter.
If that fails then please post back and we can try some other things.

Theres no display on screen

by shutting the screen you have activated power saving followed by hibernation.when you lift screen and press power a screen appears telling you what programs are currently running and your icon to enter.by removing battery you have (computer term) illegally shut down, possibly with programs running, which incidently is a good way to loose sys32. which would require a repair or install.
Not ur case as of yet.restart ur pc and press f 8 about 4 seconds later .black screen with options appear ,navigate to start windows with last good configuration.windows will restart with last good settings .
if you choose to go asleep whilst a program is running you can configure windows not to go into power save mode or hibernation, turn off hd,turn off pc etc .
if you right click mouse in any space on desktop, select properties,screensaver,power.....you can change settings there to suit.

Windows xp missing file and won't start up

Here's what I would do, because after reading around on that error message, it seems like you can't repair the problem.

I would find myself one of these: http://www.casecooler.com/3drto2dr.html

Take out your laptop's HD, hook it up to that convertor, slave it to a desktop, pull all your data that you don't want to lose to the desktop, put the laptop's HD back into the laptop, reformat/reinstall windows back onto the laptop, pull the HD back out of the laptop, hook it back up to that convertor, slave it back to the desktop, put your data back onto the laptop's HD, then put it back in the laptop.

That will leave you with a clean install that works on the laptop and you won't lose any data.
