This is caused by one or more of the burner switches going bad. Sometimes brought on by water being spilled into the control area or just buildup of grease and dirt. If they are not overly expensive I recommend my customers to have all 4 replaced while it is apart since all are the same age. It could also be a shorted wire or faulty spark module. (I check for a bad switch, Then wires. If these check out the module is all that is left.)

I don't have the model number for this range but it's a very old magic chef gas oven. What I need is the oven temperature knob. The knob used to have all of the temperature numbers printed on it however...

If you go any hardware store (Lowe's, Home Depot) they have universal knob replacement kits. Take your old knob with you and ask for help from someone who looks like they know something (the old guy). Its so much cheaper this way, exact replacement knobs can run $20 or more each. Good luck!!

Magic chef mod.#b31fa-2kx ser.#22c817514515 gas range switched to propane top burners work perfect but oven is too hot. screwed in the orafice all the way and cant find any screw or lever on the thermostat...

Crank down and flip models require tweeking. have you adjusted the regulator accordingly?
You must remove and flip the regulator nut to get the gas pressure from 3.5 to 10.

Old Magic Chef Gas Oven won't light

sounding like thermostat isn't working. If you could ohm out the t-stat should be closed when you call for heat. If that passes the test then only thing it could be is the gas valve.
