Hi
My fiancee bought a 1998 Renault Clio but the Radio asks for the code.
We have the code but no instruction how to enter it.
Have searched round a few sites with no luck.
The Radio has the following buttons
1 - 6 on presets
RDS
BNDAST
SRC
left arrow MAN right arrow
AUDIO
The code we need to input is 1955
Can you help if possible please
Many thanks
Alan
I'm sure it would have worked but seems slight problem with the remote control.
Guess on a ten year old car only to be expected.
We have now fitted a different player.
thank you again for the responseThank you for the response

To enter the radio code on most Renaults you do not use the buttons on the radio. Instead use the remote control buttons on the steering column.
The remote control has a rotary control, (either vol +/- or track/station +/-), use this to set each individual digit.
The bottom button on the controller moves to the next digit of the code.
When you have the correct code on the display, press and hold the bottom button to enter the code.
You should hear a beep and the radio should start up.
You have 3 attempts to enter the code. If an incorrect code is entered 3 times, then the radio will lock up for about 30 mins before it will allow you to try again. If this happens 3 times, then the radio will lock up permanently.
If you don't have the correct code, or the radio is locked, then there are companies which can re-code the radio.

Find someone else who has the same radio installed in their car. Write down the sequence and procedure from switch on required to enter YOUR code (even though it won't unlock their radio) and then you should be able to do the same entry "blind" to your radio in your car. You may have to cause the other radio to go into code request to start at the proper point so be sure you have the code for that radio. Clear as mud?
When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect it again, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your car radio. The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. If you do not have this code you need to go to your Renault service centre and get them to enter this code for you.
I would go to a Renault Dealer vs: trying to use the phone, & just ask one time, what the procedure is, for getting as well as entering the radio code
Not all vehicles require doing that. If your does, write everything down, as you will have the battery cables off or other issues as time passes.
No one on the internet should know your VIN# or would have a code for anything. That is the purpose. So if your radio is stolen, it won't work in something else
Hi All, the very same thing happened to me. Cold weather broke my radio and the display screen stayed on with the time and temperature but the radio wouldn't work. I rang Renault & they said I need to come in an get a new radio but I put it off. In the end the problem started affecting my battery and the car wouldn't start. But then when I jump started it, it also started the radio again perfectly. Problem solved!
Hope this helps. Good luck!
