SOURCE: NO POWER ON PHILIPS 42PF9966/37

I had the same problem with a philips 42FD9932 and fixed with a great online tutorial. Just replace 3 capacitors available at Radioshack onthe the board. 2662, 2663, 2664 1 is a 1000uf the others are 100uf. Max Volts need to be over 25. It worked great, check http://dynamicorange.com/2008/06/25/fixing-a-plasma-tv/

SOURCE: Screen lower half goes black/blank

The lower "Y Buffer" board is defective. Best repaired by a technician, or contact Phillips support for the part if you think you are able to replace a small circuit board on your own.

SOURCE: Screen goes black tv stays on. Turn off and on and TV's fine.

I had this problem on my 42" Philips. Just got it yesterday and worked fine on the tv stand. As soon as I mounted the TV to the wall via wall mount system, I had the exact same issue you did. Figured it out today.

The wall mount was putting pressure against the center of the back of the tv (tv set had a slightly rounded back plate, and the mount was a flat plate). As soon as I put spacers (part of the wall mount hardware set) between the wall mount braket and the tv so there was no contact except at the mounting holes, the tv worked fine.

My theory is the pressure pushed the tv back plate against some board components which caused them to overheat (no air flow); or put pressure on internal connectors. I dont know.

Hope this helps, may not apply to your situation.

I think that the connectors from the backlight inverter board that go to the LCD panel's backlight are a bit loose which explains why it comes back on when tapped. I am positive that unplugging and replugging the inverter cables should do the trick. WOuld like to do it yourself? It requires you to open up the tv ofcourse.

Panasonic pt-52lcx65 picture problem

Have a sears technician come over ,call them and set up an appointment, they are the best techs out there for tv issues, they will come out even if you did not buy the tv from them. Most of the Sears tv techs come from Philips which closed down their tech shop a while back. It sounds like you have dirty or faulty fans on your board. please advice.
