You are having a firmware issue or the main board is bad. Since you cannot get the monitor to work from either connector, and since this is a high resolution monitor, I doubt you are having any operating system issues. You can test the monitor on a laptop or another computer if you desire, however from the symptom it looks like the main board requires some attention. Contact Viewsonic at viewsonic.com or call their 800 number for service information. You could order a main board, but it may not have the ddc data programmed (similar to firmware) so you may have to bring it or send it to a shop for service. BTW, they have three year warranties. I would recommend calling Viewsonic.
You will need to change the resolution of the screen on the computer to 800-600 and the bit to 24bits or 16bits, to do this right click on the windows screen, and click properties, goto settings.
You should see a slider at the bottem left of the screen to adjust the resolution, and a drop down bar on the other side for the bit rate. This should solve the problem, also you could open the scond screen also in the display properties, and drag what you need to see on the screen to that screen, you will know what i mean when you open screen 2 it just expands the desktop. hope this helps.
Use the menu button on the monitor itself to adjust for the screen size in DVI mode.
On your SVGA adapter, go to your display properties (right click on desktop) click ADVANCED and change the refresh rate to fix the first problem mentioned.
