Maytag Neptune Electric Dryer

Have had dryer for about a year. Just recently it keeps tripping the breaker. When reset - a "PF" or "DO" flashes. What does this mean?

    I have the same problem. It occurs intermittently - but when it is occurring, it keeps on occurring for several days, and then may not occur again for several weeks. Have checked exhaust - cleaned out repeatedly - when occuring, with not effect.

    I have the same problem but I have the neptune stackable washer/dryer. It sometimes helps to try and keep the loads small in the dryer, but that gets to be a waste of electricity.

    I have the same problem, and I have good wiring, etc. Maybe a weak breaker???

I have this same problem. I hired a professional to fix it because I'd already tried replacing the logic board and it wasn't the cause. He determined it was the control panel on the front. Apparently the design causes a substantial amount of humidity to get trapped in the laminated panel and short the controls. He ordered a replacement but they have been on backorder for over 2 months!

Pf = power failure
do= door open

the dryer is tripping the breaker because your house wiring is probly not up to snuff, or you have a bad breaker. nothing you are saying sounds like a dryer problem, but could be a big issue with house (could be very bad, could cause fire)

MY maytag neptune dryer center wont start when I press the start button on the bottom unit it shows PF

The PF is a power failure code and it indicates the control is not sensing any line voltage
Check the circuit breaker for the dryer is not tripped. The PF could be caused by a voltage drop during a storm but you should be able to clear it and run the dryer

Dryer won't heat maytag neptune mde 5500 ayw

Hi

If the dryer is not drying the clothes then you would need to check for the following things-

Electric Dryer---

1. Inspect the fuses and circuit breakers they may have burned out or tripped. Usually, dryer will still tumble but not create heat if a fuse or a circuit breaker is not working.

2. Check for the amp reading at 240 V, it should have reading of 24, 21 and 3 amp (approx.) for 2 lines and neutral respectively.

3. Heating element may have turned or the connection to the element might be loose. Sometimes a shorted circuit element will keep on blowing the fuse or circuit breaker.

4. Motor wiring shorting to ground.

Hope this helps...

Daniel

Power Failure without tripping breaker

Sounds like an overheat code tripped due to obstruction in the exhaust. There is also a vent tube on the bottom of the dryer that could be loose.

No heat coming from dryer

Double check the circuit breaker for the dryer (Electric Neptune). Turn it off, then turn it back on. Its possible that the breaker may have tripped for some reason, but wasn't able to trip all the way.

Does the interior of the dryer get warm at all? You could have a 1 of multiple heating elements that has shorted. If no heat at all, the likely a heating element has opened up. Unplug dryer from wall (turn off circuit breaker first!). Use a ohm meter to measure and check continuity of the heating elements.

There may also be a sail switch in the air path of the dryer. The purpose of the sail switch is to keep the elements turned off until there is enough air blowing through the dryer. This helps prevent fires, as well as shrunken denim.

Circuit breaker trips after 10 minutes

could be a weak breaker,or poor high resistance connection from panel to dryer plug, then have someone check the current draw on the dryer while operating and see if it's within specs of the machine tag, if it's higher than that you may have a defective motor or heating element to case causing a higher than normal current draw

Trips breaker and get "PF" on display even when not tripped

This error code indicates "power failure" was detected. This could be caused by a bad/loose connection at either the logic board, the relay board, or at one of the three main power connection terminals on the back of the dryer. The logic board is located inside the control panel. The relay board is located in the base of the dryer. You can unplug and reseat electrical connections at these locations and check the main power cord hook-up at the terminal block. Hope this helped and best wishes.

PF singal on dryer. Can not start dryer something electrical possibe pf power failer

Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

Dryer tripped breaker--shotgun blast sound

You may have a wire burn off the element and fall down to the base frame and cause a direct short. Turn you breaker off, remove the front and inspect for such a scenario.

Breaker keeps throwing

jhweis80 Why do you think the problem is the dryer? The circuit breaker itself could be bad and this is what I will check first. Probably you need a professional electrician to do it for you. Gendos post back...
