I am trying to repair the motor drive in the fork of the 125 model, and would like to aquire a repair manual. the motor in the base runs fine, but when I pulg in the Auto Star paddle from my 6 inch refractor it gives me a reading of "Motor Failure".

Your problem may not be the motor?

Is this a 497 hand controller? If it is check the TELESCOPE TYPE in the controller. It should read ETX125. You cannot just switch controllers. The controller has been TRAINED for the other scope.

To switch it you must do a RESET, Calibrate motors and then train the drives. These "values" are stored inside the hand controller. If you move it to another type of Meade telescope you must RESET and do Calibrate sensors and Training again.

A/c problem

There is a check valve in the vacuum operated venting system that must be located and replaced, working from here it is difficult for me to instruct you exactly where the check valve is located you may aquire that info by calling a dealer and talk to service dept. or aquire repair manual on cd from ebay motors ( $15.00 - $20.00)
