Kenmore 70 Series Washer
Won't advance in the cycle. I have read the answers to some similar posts and it suggests it could be the lid switch, but I was thinking it was the time.
Here is a description of what I happens when I run the machine:
* Start washing on normal setting (10 minute mark)
- Fills, agitates, but goes much longer than 10 minutes
- knob does move but seem to get stuck around 2
* Advanced dial manually to just after time section
- starts to drain and spin
- if lift lid, stops spinning
- but can restart pushing screwdriver in sensor hole
- spins for 15 minutes without knob moving
- stop by pulling knob out, hear water sound, but clothes very dry
* Advance manually to rinse
- fills, agitates, but knob does not move.
* After 10 minutes adbanced to between 'rinsing' and 'spinning'
- drained water, but never started spinning.
- hear pump sound like trying to drain
* Advance just a bit further, but not all the way to 'spinning'
- starts to spin, but knob does not move
- again, if remove screwdriver (i.e. opens lid), it stops
* Advanced to 'spinning' cycle
- spins, but does not stop

Check door switch: If
the lid switch is bad it will not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open
let it finish wash cycle. Press lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should begin draining.
Release switch. Motor should stop. Press
switch a second time. Washer should
start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on while lid
switch is pressed, replace the switch.

Note after reading a bunch of information. I went home and removed the hose from the Level Switch and "clean it", if you will and re-attached. Started a load, and bingo bango bongo, it work. Thanks for the insight.
the was exhaust hose is either plugged or cracked. also check the drain it is put into as this sometimes will be puleeged with fabric from the clothes you wash
