SOURCE: No signal without a digital convertor box.

You must have a tuner, but the one built into the TV will work fine. Have you scanned for available channels after connecting your antenna?

Have lost all channel 2 stations

I assume you are having a problem with OTA channels. On some TVs, if a digital channel doesn't have enough signal strength, the channel list will get edited to exclude it. Have you checked that your antenna is pointed in the correct direction? My external antenna sometimes turns in high winds. Turning it back to the original direction improves the signal strength so that the tuner works. Then go into the Menu and find the Setup or Channels sub-menu to attempt to rescan for channels. (If you add a comment with the model of your TV, I may be able to give the specific sub-menu details for scanning for channels.)

If your antenna has an amplifier, try using the antenna without that amplifier. A few times, the amplifier/splitter attached to that external antenna has been damaged. Then the amplifier becomes a filter and blocks some channels. If you are far enough away from your local station's transmitter and can't receive the signal without the amplifier, replace it.

If another TV receives the stations, the problem is more likely to be the tuner for the TV itself. These can be damaged by a surge from the antenna. The solution is to get a set-top box with an ATSC tuner or replace the TV. Some sites may have replacement tuners (like shopjimmy.com that salvages parts from TVs with damaged screens); however I don't know if they'd have the part you'd need.

I hope this helps.

Hi, my name is Milan. I have a sony Bravia 55 w950b TV that has lost antenna signal

Sounds like defect is with its tuner itself, as you suspected. Contact any service technician.

I can't operate my Philips Magnavox 42MF521D/37 Television

Philips has the FAQs and manuals for the 42MF52D/37 here: http://www.m4c.magnavox.com/cgi-bin/cpindex.pl?ctn=42MF521D/37&mid=Link_FAQs&scy=US&slg=AEN . The direct link to the User's guide is http://download.m4c.magnavox.com/files/4/42mf521d_37/42mf521d_37_dfu_aen.pdf . You will need Adobe Reader of a similar program to read the manual.

Is there a specific problem you are having with your set? (OTA or cable setup or another issue) Please add a comment if you would like additional support. Note: digital OTA signals are subject to a "cliff effect" if your tuner doesn't get enough data from the antenna. This will be determined by the tuner, the antenna location (indoor, outdoor, elevation), distance from the transmitter, and any splitters or other wiring problems. I've seen failed amplified splitters turn into filters that block the incoming signal from reaching the TV.

Tried to hook up a HD antenna but it won't work

HD is pretty critical and if a indoor antenna do not expect much or anything for that matter.

The picture freezes and the sound is lost. Until the picture returns and the sound returns, this happens every couple of seconds.

If you actually have the Zenith model TV (B25A24Z), the trouble is not in your set. This model has only an analog tuner, and what it sounds like you are describing is digital pixellation. This is what happens with a digital-to-analog converter box when it gets a weak signal, with rain fade or heavy snow on a satellite dish antenna, or when a digital cable system has some signal problems. The converter equipment locks the last complete frame (or breaks up into blocks and freezes) and the sound is muted.

You'll need to look for the cause of your trouble in whatever is feeding the TV. If you have a digital converter box for off-the-air broadcasts, make sure you have a good antenna and all the connections are tight. If you have satellite TV service or digital cable service, you might need to contact your service provider for help in troubleshooting and fixing the trouble.

Indoor antenna problems

I don't know the menu system on your model, but you have to check that the tuner is in the proper mode. Also, some of the new TV set models cannot receive a standard analog TV signal from its tuner.

As for the distance from the transmitter sight, this depends mostly on the antenna quality, antenna location, the power output of the transmitter sight, compatiblity of the TV to the received signal, and also the capability of the TV's tuner.

Modern TV sets are really designed to be used with a satellite or cable TV box with their respective service.

Terrestrial TV is dying out, and in a matter of a number of years, it will be gone.
